FOH'ers Daily Smoke

Smoked a 2006 or 2008 (can’t recall exactly) Epicure 2 on while sneaking 9 in last week.  I meant to post it because it was excellent.  There was a eucalyptus/herbal sweetness in the final 3rd like I’ve never experienced in any cigar.  A lot of 10 year plus Hoyos I’ve had have been extremely mild, but this was a near perfect cigar.  Flavors very well defined.

Yes, same here. I guess they’re just not my profile. On the other hand, I had a HdM Petit Robustos from 2012 a couple of months ago and it will take something quite special to beat that stick as my smoke of the year. Best cigar I’ve had in a long long time.

I have had the complete opposite experience... About 1 year ago, I woke up at 3.30 in the morning to write something. And I smoked a Hoyo Epi 2, which must have been older than 2014. It was bought along with another one. The first one I had was 2-3 days after making the purchase and was disgusting and unsmokable. The other one was about a month later. It was the best cigar I had ever smoked. Just pure honey, brown sugar and cream, an extremely velvety and oily smoke . Absolutely amazing... I will never forget that night/morning. It was pure bliss. 1 hour and 30 minutes of pure wow. My palate was extremely clean, having eaten just some yogurt. Along with some white tea it was incredible. One of the few times I nearly burned my fingers and my mustache smoking it. But it was all worth it. I have had others which were okay, but my God I wish I had a truckfull of those ones... Anyway, I do think aging makes a tremendous difference ...

Siglo VI on my hotels balcony on the Amalfi Coast.
It’s currently dark so I wasn’t able to get a good picture. The scenery was pictured earlier at a restaurant nearby.

First time having a Siglo VI. Very elegant is what comes to mind.

I’ve smoke a lot of RASS’s over the years but for the longest time always from a cab. Went digging in my long term humidor and picked a RASS from 2009. Boxes pressed from coming from a box, not a cab so felt kinda weird but gotta say it was excellent. More spice and leather especially in the first half. Started to fall off a bit in the last third but overall very enjoyable. I have some from 2012 in the same humidor so I may give one of those a try soon to compare.

My ”a new cigar everyday” summer fest continues. This SLR Regios took me by surprise. I have to say that I really enjoyed it, for the most parts anyway. Flavour wise it reminded me of an Upmann but a little more muted. My only complaint would be that it was a little one dimensional, kind of the same problem I had with a Connoisseur No.1 I smoke earlier this summer. It stays pretty much same the whole cigar through out. And it got harsh in the last third but it’s a young stick, 2017 or 16 at most. I really would like to try a psp version of the Regios with some age to it, just to see if those flavours come alive a little more. If that’s the case I would have no problem putting this stick in to my rotation.

Big thunderstorms today, bringing much needed rain.   Now that things have cleared, I've decided to fire up an OPA DIC 09 Lusitania.  To accompany this fine cigar, I've poured some Backwoods Bastard Bourbon barrel stout.  Cheers all.

Enjoying a 2014 Partagas E2 while looking off to the Las Vegas strip. Only 107 degrees in the shade, time to jump in my pool. 

 

Aged 14 years, only 112 degrees outside. If only the wife would allow me to enjoy inside at a comfy 72 degrees.

As light turns into dark.. QdO Imperiales from 2014 and a RASS from 2013. QdO was not stunning but the RASS delivered as it usually does.
