Angle/diagonal cuts has a much more exposed surface area. Much better draw & more smoke directed to your palate. It works for me & I do angle cuts on nearly all the piramedes smokes.

Hoyo de Monterrey Elegante (2016) tonight: this is a very sweet smoke, at points it had candy floss qualities, notes of vanilla, cream, and woody spice. A light smoke all around. The flavours were pleasant but I feel it was not fitting my mood, and overall became a lacklustre smoke. I will leave off for 6 months and see what a little bit more age does to them. Great construction.

Smoking a Davidoff Winston Churchill Churchill 

Two first’s for me. First Davidoff ever smoked and the first Churchill sized cigar I’ve ever smoked.

I’ve avoided Davidoff like the plague as I think they are ridiculously overpriced.  Not sure why I decided to buy one today.

By the way thanks for the tip on editing the photo before posting here so it stays upright. I forgot who mentioned that but thank you.

A fresh SP Beli, the first from a recent 4-pack offering. I jumped on these as part of a little “aging” experiment. I’ve got a handful left in a ’12 box, which have been extremely smooth and well behaved. But I wanted to see what they tasted like fresh. I’ve gotta admit, this newer version was significantly more vibrant and sweet in taste. Wish I bought a box.

OK. Tried a Gilberto Oliva Reserva before lunch , but had to throw it away because....what a terrible , terrible cigar.. bland but with that chemical aftertaste I associate with non-cubans. Literally a bad taste in the mouth. So if , if, you ever decide to quit smoking but you need extra motivation I suggest you smoke two of those in a row. After lunch tried my luck with a Sancho Panza Non Plus but it was plugged..

So then decided to fall back on my trusted Tapados , it never lets me down
