Always perplexing to see - how true brilliance and mediocrity can go along so close to each other.... A great du Depute, one of the best cigars for me this year. Followed a few days later by a boring, unidimensional and just woody/oaky du Prince. Both 2016, both beautiful-looking, both perfectly built.

Much like all my experiments with MDMA over the years, I keep returning to these Liga 9s in hopes I'll finally "get" what everyone else does.  It's just OK.

Victory cigar time. So the doe that I passed on earlier today, I was able to catch her slipping this evening. I sat at one spot this afternoon with not much happening. I came down with about 15 mins of light to check the area I saw this nice doe this morning.  About 5 mins later she came scooting out and I got her. So tonight is my first RyJ #4 that I picked up here on a 24/24. I’ll keep the tenderloins and backstraps and drop the rest off tomorrow for summer sausage and such.

I need to start posting more regularly, don't like forgetting how they were.

The Cohiba was the first I've ever smoked, first two puffs were chocolate and a nice pepper but then it died down almost completely. Couldn't believe it, extremely disappointed.
The QdO is smoking well, despite its young age. No bitterness or harsh greenness. Will probably be a great minuto in a few years.
Partagas Maduro No. 1. Lighter than most ELs but still a maduro eh.. Not taking anything away from it, lovely smoke.
RA XXL, one of my favorite REs in recent years, true to the RASS DNA with a bit of twist. Will have to pick up some more.
2006 Partagas Presidentes. Hate that there are so few left in my humidor, these are just so good right now. Complexity at its peak. 94-95 rating, despite smoking outside.

Young JL1 & Old Firestone XII. Nine years on this beer and its holding up great. Carbonation has dwindled but still present. Ridiculous amounts of roasted fig, vanilla, dates and chocolate covered blackberries with a sturdy bourbon backbone. Excellent.

SCDH La Cabana RE Cuba 2017.....one of the few RE I have had that tastes like its regular production counterparts, this was very enjoyable until last bit which showed its youth, enjoyed the blend and the size but I am also a big SCDH fan so go figure, lots of sweetness in this sample

Had to try one. They have been sitting in the humidor for almost 2 weeks.
The PSP MEL ABR 17 Monte PE.
Pure chocolate. I cannot wait to see where these go. Extremely satisfied with such a young cigar. This box might not last long.

They never last long for me.

On leaf (leaves?) duty tonight. About 17 feet of leaf accumulation in our driveway from one Japanese maple. Mind boggling. I paired the raking with a cigar that tastes a bit like a damp forest floor in Autumn... (MEG MAY 16 Connie 1).
