Razor burn so far. Lots of sweet cream, wood, and some leathery notes. I can't stop going in for whiffs on the barrel.

That RA 898 is a nice pickup. I have a similar box from the 1970s. Judging by the seal I can tell you that it's date is between 1994 when they were first introduced and 2002 when the RA 898 was discontinued.

Thanks for the heads up on the RA John! The guy at the shop in Auckland said the same, he thought they must be from sometime near the end of the production run.

 

The weather in a Queenstown was actually pretty good! Around 22-24C during the day with lots of sunshine, only later at night the temp dropped to around 10-15C.

LGC M d'Or No.2 TEB JUN07 - Quality toasted tobacco with some citrus hard candy sweetness. Darker overtones mid-point and beyond. Somewhat arid / stringy body and delivery, giving the impression of paper/cardboard. Fairly average.

PFY Nov 05 Cohiba Coronas Especiales, thanks to @Trevor2118. Beautiful Grass, Honey, Mocha Coffee and a hint of vanilla notes. How is this different to an aged Lanceros? The 40mm (about 1.6 inches) difference in length makes the CCE a slightly more full-bodied cigar in comparison to the Lanceros. So, whereas I would classify some of the '05 Lanceros I've smoked as mild this year, this CCE would be mild-medium. Extremely satisfying!

OBM Dic 16 Romeo y Julieta Churchill. Well, as you may be aware, RYJ is one marca I struggle with but this simply blew me out of the water, folks! For my palate, it stands as unique in the Habanos regular production catalogue. Where else can you get flavours of light toasted tobacco, turkish delight, rosewater and anise. Incredible, the one or two cigars out of the box which blow you away are like these. A supremely superlative cigar!
