Just had a PLPC from a ”new” box, EML May 14. Caramel, some whipped cream and the whole second half had some sort of sting to it. It was just there for a brief second so it was hard to put my finger on it. Not a JLS2 citrus kind of sting. Salmiak maybe?

Went with an NC this evening, a My Father Cigars “La Antigedad” that I’ve had around for a while. 

This is how a great Nicaraguan should be. Pepper to start, followed by cream and baking spices, with a core of cedar and earthy chocolate notes. 

Perfect construction, draw, and burn. The Pepín family knows how to make a lovely cigar.

PLPC can have that 'bite' you mention when young. You may need a few more years on that box for it to 'caramelise' more.

Smoking a RA corona extra EL 2011 to celebrate my son's 6th birthday. He was born 2011 and have a few of these left. I am ISO this cigar. I would like to smoke one each and every birthday of his until I can. And maybe enjoy one with him on his wedding day. If anyone has some or a box they are willing to part with, please PM me.
This cigar was all fruit cake with a nice chocolate note towards the final third.

Yea, just had my last PLPC from a 13 cab the other week and the last couple of sticks from that one was as smooth as ever. This sting was kind of like "needle/razor sharp and quick", that's why I referred to it as citrus or salmiak. Pepper usually lingers a little, this was just a fraction of a second. It could just be a one cigar thing, too. I'll try another one next week.
