Ophidion Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 I don't usually smoke more than 1 cigar in a day, especially when I haven't smoked them before, but it was beautiful out and I really didn't have anything to do, so why not? My day in pictures: PLM MAY 11 MGA NOV 10 I'll be posting some reviews in the next few days as I gather up my short notes.
maverickdrinker Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Good cigar day today. A RA RE 2010 Andino Gladiator (needs to take a long nap), 2003 EL Cohiba double corona and finished the night with a 2008 RA RE Phoenicia Sublime.
LLC Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Enjoyed the Saint Luis Rey double corona we were given at the Montreal herf in January. A very enjoyable 2 hour cigar.
Bartolomeo Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 HDM Du Dauphin NN-SU-SS1 98......not typically an aged HDM fan as they lose strength, flavor over time in my experience but this was excellent, great construction w the pigtail....remember the Fudgsicle® you had when you were a kid, this was the profile I got today Thank you Ray!! Boli Corona Gigantes AGO 08.....very good while watching the Masters
maverickdrinker Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 started today with a RA RE Asia Pacific Celestial Fino. Wanted to see how they were developing. Very impressive. These have transformed into something very delightful. When they first came out, they were overpowering and harsh. Hints of amonia overtones when the box was first opened. Mucho Fuerte. Now, the cigar has really come together. Still have a nice richness to it however, there are no hints of amonia at all. A hint of cocoa, creme brulee and a touch of earthiness. Long finish as well. The flavours just envelop your mouth and nostrils when you retrohale. A nice 1 hour, 15 minute smoke as this cigar really forced me to focus on the flavours. Impressive as I tend to smoke fairly quickly. A very enjoyable afternoon on the deck. Having said this, I think that these will continue to develop over time. Glad I have a couple of fivers to smoke through before cracking the boxes. Well worth firing one up to see the development if you are familiar with this cigar. Might have to search out a few more boxes of these......
Lotusguy Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 Yesterday a RG PC and a RG Panetela back-to-back. Today another RG Panetela and then at a B&M a Tatuaje Lancero which was quite nice.
maverickdrinker Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 had a partagas serie D no. 5 tonight. Excellent tobacco and construction. Lit up easily and the burn was razor sharp throughout the duration. Nice ring gauge and length for a quick smoke. Have to say that I didn't like it. I tried to like it but, just didn't do it for me. Heavy overtones of cedar throughout the smoke. Felt that it was fairly one dimensional.
Pilgrims Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 Three smokes on holiday last week, would have been more but weather was crap. Ramona Allones Extra - second one of these and right up there with the best I have smoked, seriously good and I am very excited about the box I have in my locker. PL Robusto (Asia Pacific 07) completely different, vanilla sweetness then some depth enjoyed it, change of pace from the RA XTRA. Lastly a Cohiba Siglo VI (tubos) - was fine but very 1 dimensional indeed and not that interesting...

maverickdrinker Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 Starting the afternoon with a 06 Cohiba siglo II
Lotusguy Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 Bah - Upmann Coronas jr. a/t. Hated it (just like I did with all the previous ones from this box). Off on sale the remaining 10 go...
Guest rob Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 I had a Ramon Allones Regional Edition 2007. I believe a double Robusto. An absolutely brilliant cigar - perhaps in the top 3 cigars I've had this year. True to the marque's lineage and intended profile, perfect construction, and impeccable performance from start to finish. With only 600 boxes made - I'm glad I got one of them.
Bartolomeo Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 Smoking a Cohiba 1966 while celebrating Easter, very good smoke Happy Easter! Bart
maverickdrinker Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 2001 RE Asia Pacific Quay D'Orsay Superiores. Did a LIVE REVIEW in other thread.
maverickdrinker Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 just lit up an 06 monte especial no.1. Excited to smoke this one. Haven't fired one of these up in a while.
LLC Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 Pulled out my first Robina godfather I got at the farm last fall. At two and a half hours I put it down as the construction started becoming a problem. Was expecting more from this cigar but I'll reserve judgement until I have another one
mbrody Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Last night a LFDC Short Robusto UK RE. This one has been resting for about 6 months. Impressive smoke. Much improved than the first I smoked ROTT. 91 Now a BHK 52 while watching GoT.

Lotusguy Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Partagas Coronas Jr. - meh Upmann #2 - YES! Half of my wife's RG PC - Yes! Punch Punch a/t - best one from that box yet. Paired extremely well with Lagavullin 16
NMJoe Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 My brother-in-law and I both had a Magnum 46 from my HQ OPA ABR 10 box. Smooth, coco and cream, with a little spice in the last third. Just a nice, solid stick. Happy Easter, NMJ
