First cigar of the weekend at the New Jersey Shore. Newer (but great) Esplendido and a new (but eh) beer. I like to try all of the new summer beers but am rarely wowed.

LUB MAY 14 HQ HUP2. I still don't know what to make of this box. The wrappers are beautiful, construction feels right, and the Upmann spine is there, but I continue to get muddled, harsh flavors and burn problems. Hopefully time will improve them.

After @Danimalia's latest report on how the '15 Montecarlos were faring, I cracked open my box of EML May 15 and dove in.  Probably the thinnest gauge cigar I've smoked, if you don't count the Cohiba Shorts as "cigars".  Caramel in the aroma at cold.  Beautiful, deep sweetness, with a creamy mouthfeel.  Draw was spot on with a noticeable but not unpleasant resistance.  And as he said, they're not just good for the money, they're flat-out very good!  I'll be watching for these to come up again on 24:24.

A couple last night, R&J Wide Churchill, decent but a wacky burn.....and a La Principe , very good. Tonight so far a MC Open Master, starting off very nice. Have a great long weekend for those lucky to have one.

I know there's been a lot of mixed reviews on these, especially when people compare them to the prior La Escepcion release.  But, I think these are absolutely brilliant cigars.  The Don Jose box I brought back from Italy last year has opened up amazingly. Beautiful flavors and spices. Perfect roll and burn.  Enjoying this one on my deck overlooking the wife's summer gardens.  Perfect evening here in KC after a lot of summer storms the past few days.  Easily a 94/95 type cigar for me tonight
