Bartolomeo Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 2011 JL Supreme RE Canada with MiamiPadronSmoker today.....horrible sums it up
headstand Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 H Up Mag 46 - RAS MAR 10 - HQ Black coffee through the first 1/3, perfect draw, good smoke volume but not a rich smoke -thinner in texture. Second 1/3 shows an increase from medium strength to full with slightly thicker and richer smoke texture. Still black coffee but with added tongue tingling black pepper. Last 1/3 is black coffee and black pepper with a hint of sweetness and wood. Overall impression is of a cigar that needs more time to evolve and to allow the strong but disjointed flavors to integrate and smooth out. With that in mind I'm going with an 88 now, with the expectation of a low 90s down the road.
chrismfontanot Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 A plugged partagas short, had to toss it at the first 1/3d. This was the first party short I've had from a 25 box, all the others I've smoked in the past have been from cabs. Not saying the box press contributed, impossible to say, but i get the feeling I should have just gone with the cab for these. Hopefully it's isolated to the stick I picked tonight.
mk05 Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 couple handrolled cubans but this time made with a lighter wrapper, more complex but i prefer the ones with the darker wrapper. Ben's gonna be in for a surprise at his wedding. hehehe
Pilgrims Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 had the Blind petit Corona from the competition, put write up on that topic, good really enjoyed it I think (hope anyway) it is something I've not had before...
Bartolomeo Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 TEB ABR 07 Siglo VI Tubo.....cream w a hint of salt on the back end....now I know why these command the prices they do, excellent smoke! Bart
ramon_cojones Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 Some old pics and a new one today. vegas jl2 '10 sig i, very good 92 I'd say
headstand Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 A wonderful Principe (Czars single). These have been my best smokes of the winter: size is ideal for Canadian winter conditions. Also consistently good. Will be on the hunt for a box.
maverickdrinker Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 94 bolivar pc in the sunshine, watching my daughter's soccer practice. Wow!!!! What a delicious cigar.
DougB Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Yesterday a beat-up, but delicious, BCE and last night my first 1966. I am going to write a review shortly.
CanuckSARTech Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Well, it's been a damn long while since I posted anything in here. Had a really satisfying LGC Medaille d'Or No. 2. Very nice. Lots of black tea and toasted tobacco flavours, interlaced and laden with grassy, herbal notes, almost daisies and field flowers. Flavours that just made me wish spring and summer would get here just a little bit sooner. I feel that this year is gonna have some GREAT smoking days and get-togethers ahead!!! Cheers all. mk05 Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Smoking a padron and continuing to be stumped as to what the draw is.
maverickdrinker Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Smoking a padron and continuing to be stumped as to what the draw is. Agreed. Tried one a couple of weeks ago and didn't like it at all. Today, Found out that my friend is expecting his third child. Broke out a couple of 01 EL Cohiba piramides and an 06 Cohiba siglo IV. Congrats bro!
Dbone Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 The best EL, not tasting like an EL, I have had the pleasure of smoking. These are continuing to evolve where I get the slightest of honey on the finish now. I will miss these when they're gone that's for sure, wish I could have bought more.
KWG116 Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Hoyo epi ESP Just got them today. A fantastic creamy cigar. Bought 20 about two years ago and have been sparingly smoking them. Have five left and decided I needed a box. These are amazing cigars. Nobody really talks about these. I have been stockng up on hoyos lately. Just wanted to add these are way better than the Juan Lopez 2 I smoked yesterday. I guess I don't get these. Hopefully the rest of the cab will get better. The especial was a truly top notch cigar.
Lotusguy Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Last night a Parti Mille Fleurs and just now an Upmann PC - can you tell I'm trying to figure out the blind tasting cigar 1?
Rushman Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Yesterday was a 5 cigar day spurred on by my customer Jovan who had six! I had: PSD4 BRC BCG BRC PSD4 He had two PSP2's and count em four PSD4's We both had a few too many Bohemia cervezas and a few mojitos. I'm finally feeling better so after nubbing a CoRo, I'm lighting up a RASS. help me if Jovan shows up again! --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=20.630183,-87.069774
sam Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Smoked this past weekend a RA Extra (LE 2011) single picked up by the wife at the Playa del Carmen LCDH. Lousy burn. Little, no-flavor smoke. Very disappointing. I hope those in the box I got are better. ---sam
Bartolomeo Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 GEP MAR 04 Monte Esp #2.....not typically a Monte fan but this is a pretty good smoke.....very light Cocoa on the tongue
NMJoe Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Had a Muralla last night of unknown box date that was easily one of the two or three best cigars I have ever smoked. Only have one left from a 2-pack pick up and thta one's gonna burn sometime this summer on the deck with a nice Kilkenny. Yum. Shlomo, I just love Kilkenny, but I can't get it here. There are other cream ales but it's just not the same.
