ramon_cojones Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 DB69- As good as the short is I don't think it has the quality of leaf found in full size smokes. Everyone's palate is different, some are alike, some vastly differ. I am no vintage expert so I'm short on recommendations having only smoked a handful of lonsdales, slr dcs, cohiba lanceros, etc from 01. I have a very generous friend with lots of aged cigars and I have to be honest, I don't get excited when he gifts me a 99 or 01 or something. Then again like you say there are different tastes and I can respect yours, that is what you prefer (though I do love 01 lanceros). For me, I'd love a minimum 3 years on everything, ideally 5-6 years for full flavor and 10 would be a bonus!
bacalao Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Great Sancho Non Plus for breakfast. NC cigar event last night with Matt Booth from Room 101 Cigars. Super nice guy and scored this bad ass cutter
Lotusguy Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 that is bad-ass! It doubles up as brass knuckles I had a fantastic 2008 CoRo and a mushy Monte PE today. Will light something nice with one of my Bros tonight.
partifan Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 08 Upmann Corona Major, and it was a beauty of a smoke.
Lotusguy Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Trini Fundadores from 2006 - wow! Followed by a Parti 898 from 2009 which was my best one yet (but nowhere near as good as the Fundi)
bolivr Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Partagas Toppers from 00. Nice one this time, just a touch earthy and not a mouthful of mud like some have been,
Wil Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Hot night here in Melbourne. Just after 11pm and still 30 odd degrees. Enjoying a generous glass of Mt *** XO and my first ever ERDM choix supreme. Burn is a bit off but loving it do far.

Wil Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Not a good night. 1st third of the choix supreme was great, but terrible therafter due to a very tight draw. Pulled out a QdO Superiores that was an absolute wind tunnel. May as well have licked an ashtray. At least the Mt @&$ rum was good!!!
SigloIII Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 My very first erdm CS last night. Added a few sticks to try to my last order which arrived a few weeks back. Great smoke. Like others have mentioned the burn was a little off but I'm willing to chalk that up to the short rest time.
Bartolomeo Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Excellent 2010 Monte #2.....Look at the dark, oily wrapper Bart™

Pilgrims Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Just had my 1st HDM Short Hoyo Piramides (EL 2011), am very impressed, it's young, will develop, very balanced, a good EL like the RA extra
Dbone Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Every cigar from this box has looked like this, and each one has smoked top of its class, I don't think a Famosos can get much better. Its one of those, "The cigars are so good I'll save them for later, then I don't smoke them because I'm saving them, but I don't enjoy them because I'm not smoking them, ever wonder if Ill get a box of Famosos this stellar so don't waist them, when I have one I wonder why I just don't plow threw the box because they're so good right now" boxes This is a cigar from the same box I did a review of a while ago. Outstanding!! VR Famosos

Schumi5 Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 VR Famosos for me today from a 2010 box. Spectacular cigar. If you are ever looking for chocolate in a cigar this one delivers it in spades. The VR profile is one that is quite different than my 'go-to' flavour profile (thinnk H. Upmann, or Juan Lopez). Nonetheless, this is a great change of pace and definitely a humi staple. If you haven't experienced it, give it a try, you will not be dissapointed.
Bartolomeo Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 2011 Monsdale....Perfect construction, superb flavor....Very enjoyable treat, wish I could have these every day Bart
Rushman Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Early 2011 RASS followed by an 08 Trini Coloniales. Both were really enjoyable. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=20.630206,-87.069939
ramon_cojones Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 A buddy put me on famosos a couple of years ago and while the box was young they got so ******* good over time. I have to say the 09s I had were superbly constructed but I haven't seen good examples since. Been thinking about what Rob's opinion is of them as of late.
dicko Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Last few days I have had several bolivar PC's and a. fuente gran reserva's boli's win hands down
riazp Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 had a Juan Lopez no.2 on saturday, it was ok. Dont think i'd buy a box of them...now i want to try the JL no1 since I do enjoy the CG size alot more.
ramon_cojones Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 jl2 is ok I have a box I've been smoking through and have had a really aged one they are nothing spectacular just a good change of pace smoke like the choix supreme but you will always find huge proponents of pretty much every cc Smoked an erdm uk regional petit robusto saturday was pretty good until i left it out to eat and come back an hour later, cigars are pretty terrible after that I prefer just to smoke them all the way through just was too hungry to do so. Had an 08 lusi yesterday and I finally decided I don't really like them after having smoked a dozen or so, it's just a great big boring smoke with not enough flavor or subtle complexity to keep me entertained for 2 hours. Esplendido far and above my preference. Smoked an 05 CoRo that was flat and just ok, not a good weekend for me LOL.
