mbrody Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 after some days off fighting off round 2 of this sinus/chest cold, tried a 07 RASS after the many praises. Just didn't hit the spot, and now a crappy burn to boot. Will have to revisit some different samples...
headstand Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 RyJ coronita en cedro. I have had rich fruit cake flavors with these, but this one was dud. An overly tight draw may have been part of the problem. I managed through about an inch before tossing.
Rushman Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Last of the 08 h upmann Connie 1's. So sad. It was really a nice smoke. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=20.631755,-87.070705
rsanz Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 RASCC on the way to work this morning. Now... smoking my 1st RYJ Wide Churchill while watching some original series Star Trek on TV. Bloody classic (the trek, not the cigar... although I'm only at the 1st 3rd so things ,ight pick up).
Lotusguy Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 My first ever Partagas SdC #1 from my 1999 box. Wonderful draw and construction and it definitely has the Partagas profile. The only problem is that this profile doesn't suit my tastes <sigh> Too leathery and strong. I was so excited about these since they are my favorite vitola, but I think these are wasted on me
ramon_cojones Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 ^send to me and I will take care of them for you with the utmost in love
Lotusguy Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Lit a HDM Des Dieux from 2003 - now THAT'S better
Rushman Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Allones Extra (see my post, courtesy of Alejandro at LCDH PDC) and my brother in laws new canonazo. Conducting some final taste tests before he launches his line in the states. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=20.631738,-87.070640
aavkk Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 I am on a serious JL bender right now... this morning is an excellent ENE 10' JL 2. I love these, rich notes of aged cognac and leather wrapped up a thick rich smoke. not as floral as the JL 1 I smoked a few days ago. i really like these.
Dbone Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 To celebrate our 3rd wedding Anniversary, my wife and I shared a stunning HDM Double Corona, GOP ENE09. A real treat, this is my wifes favourite cigar, and easily sits in my top 10. Three years of age has done wonders for these, they should just keep getting better! Happy Anniversary, Bster. And that's one nice looking HDM too!
riazp Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Last night went to stogies with strada, I had another great ERDM Choix Supreme and a exellent dip 4 as well. Gotta thank simon for going for a smoke with last minute, really did me some good with all that's going on. Cheers Simon!
Dbone Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Siglo III, probably my favorite in the line. Fresh baked bread, touch of honey, wood... and cream
Lotusguy Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Partagas P1 - my last one, but I don't really miss them. Now the RyJ Short Churchill from the travel retail glass tube. Man, that thing is MOIST - I am surprised there is no mold on it
maverickdrinker Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 08 cohiba siglo VI as I comtemplate things I need to do strategically to help my team succeed in 2012.
bigfunkyg Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 A Sir Winston Tuesday afternoon to celebrate the birth of my second son. Unfortunately the cigar did not live up to occassion. Whats even worse is now with two kids my smoking opportunities will be a bit rare for a while!
Lotusguy Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Seems like it is birthday cigar day - just finished a Feb 01 HDM Du Depute to celebrate my son's 11th. It was good and still quite strong. I am looking forward to seeing how these develop over the years. Second stick now is a SLR Series A from February 2001 as well (only have single of those)
Rushman Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Started mid day with a Cuaba Piramides 08 Edicion Limitada.......about as expected, just ok. Finishing the evening with my second consecutive Boli Corona Gigantes, because the first one was just that damn good, had to go on that ride twice. --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=20.630071,-87.069784
dB69 Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Partagas Lonsdale -01. Although I know this is the best cigar in the world, it always surprises me with its supernatural flavours! HSA, why did you have to delete this wonderful piece of art, just tell me WHY-OH-WHY?
ramon_cojones Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Having smoked a few 99 and 01 lonsdales I find them overhyped as well as the 03 des dieux everyone raves about, though still good. If they weren't rolled in that vitola I doubt they would get much attention.
dB69 Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Had to open another bottle of port and smoke another cigar. This time the cigar was a Partagas Short from -07. It had more smoked tobacco and toffee based basic flavour than the previous Lonsdale. It was excellent, but cannot compete with Lonsdale. Maybe it is because of the age and/or aging - not possible to be sure about that though. Having smoked a few 99 and 01 lonsdales I find them overhyped as well as the 03 des dieux everyone raves about, though still good. If they weren't rolled in that vitola I doubt they would get much attention. Having smoked Party Lonsdales and des Dieux -02s they are the best to me including Party Corona -02 of course. I just don't know any better, but I'd like to (if it's possible!?!). Overall, I think it's the age around 10 years together with a strong blend that brings me just what I want. I'd be happy if you could recommend me even better marque/model. (Maybe I have to buy a cab of des Dieux -03 to find out is it even better than -02...) Luckily, there are different tastes - mine is quite old-schooled...
