Popular Post JohnS Posted October 16, 2016 Popular Post Posted October 16, 2016 Cigars I've had recently... 1) Montecristo No.2 OPG Jun 2015 When you can get onto a 'seam' of quality Montecristo No.2's (or 4's) you truly marvel at how good these can be. I've had a frustrating run with consistency with Monte 2's in the past year, but thankfully I've been able to get a hold of these beauties (a humble 'hand-picked' box from a mid-year 24:24 sale!). Again, cocoa predominantly, with coffee, nut and tobacco in flavour, I have only 3 left from a 10-count box, and initially I decided to rest the remaining for a little while, but I've since changed my mind...they are that good! 2) Diplomaticos No.4 OPM Sep 09 (thanks @Bster) Cocoa, Shortbread, a little cinnamon and almond...classic Diplomaticos, and all thanks to you, Brendan. I consider myself very fortunate to have sampled a few of these great discontinued Marevas cigars! 3) Partagas Shorts GEO May 2014 (Thanks @Cuzz) This is one of those rare cigars where I've given it 5 out of 5 in my smoking diary on Cuban Cigar Website. Gifted by my brother-in-law Nick, I just couldn't get over how smoothly mild and easy this was to smoke. Cocoa, wood, tobacco and coffee...simply glorious! 4) Quai d'Orsay Panetelas PES Nov 2006 (thanks Will!) It's so nice to change things up with a 'long and skinny' now and again! I made sure to smoke this slowly. The flavour profile was different to other current production Coronas Claro, which I've had...much less citrus tang. A unique blend of mild coffee, cream and floral delicacies, with a hint of citrus. 5) Cohiba Siglo I OBM Nov 2015 (thanks Steve) Even when young, they're not bad. Yes, they still have that Cohiba grass and honey profile, only more grassy and 'cocoa-ey' then I prefer. Then again, I shouldn't moan, these are as rare as 'hen's teeth' right now, are they not? 6) San Cristobal de La Habana El Principe EML ABR 2015 Every night I should pray the following..."Dear God, thank you for my family and these staple SCdLH cigars. I pray they may never run out. Ok then, thank you again for my family!" How long will it take to go through the remaining 20? I'd say it won't be long, one can't get enough of the cocoa, molasses and spice delight that these are. 7) Cohiba Piramides Extra MUR Ene 2013 I picked these up in a tubo 3-pack on a recent 24:24 sale. I'm glad I did because this was my cigar of September. I've been wrestling all weekend whether or not to order another pack from this weekend's sale. Hey...we've all been there, have we not? I'm not describing the superlative flavours because my description may detract from its perfect blend. Ok, I'm e-mailing Di in the next 2 minutes! 12

Will you please provide details on how I can obtain one that is similar? That might be difficult unless you visit a Fijian Island I go to each year on vacation... It was hand crafted for me while in Fiji last June at a locale called Turtle Island from a gentlemen named Sorro. Almost all the wood carvers are from the Fijian Island Fulaga. The men here from early childhood are taught their amazing craft. In fact approx. 98% of ALL wood carvings sold in Fiji, main island (Nandi) and the surrounding islands obtain special wood carvings from Fulaga. Other resorts like Turtle Island employ just a few of these wood workers to make special gifts for their guests. I also have some amazing custom walking sticks that have been made over the years with our visits there. Everything in the ashtray was hand carved from Mahogany and fish bone inlays... Today's smoke is a years rested HDM! It's been a long while since I smoked one of these. The pics on this thread gave me a reminder to dig these out! ....And a few Fiji Turtle Island postcard pics with some special smokes from last June. Edit, when he was carving this, Sorro did not know how wide to make the slots, so I gave him a Behike 54 for the correct dimensions and hard work! 8
