Additional pictures for your pleasure.

I must admit the Montecristo, even its younger, has more aroma.

+1 - I am hanging my head in shame with my photography skills...

My last cigar for 2011 was my last Cohiba Pyramid LE from 2006. It had a nice med-full strength throughout, tons of cedar, leather and espresso notes. Nice cigar to end the year on.

RyJ Mille Fleurs while working on my bike. I am really beginning to hate these sticks - fireproof wrapper, tight draw, harsh. When is this 10er box finally gone???

Posted

Just finished a milles fleurs from a box that is smoking fantastic

I must have a bad box... So far, 4 out of the 10 were terrible. Box code is STA ABR 10.

Now I am having an Upmann Coronas jr. and I am striking out with that one as well. It's rough and bitter. Oh well - better luck next time.

I bought a box a while back and they were all plugged...you win some and lose some with the RyJs I guess. Hopefully 2012 improves for ya cigarwise...lol, one good thing about a bad start is that things can only imrove. :D

All good - fired up a RG Panatelas and it was great (as one would expect from a 2003 smoke)

Saint Luis Rey - Double Corona.....you are so sweet.

Im going to buy a 50 count cabinet of those this month.

As I type I am 1/3 into a FANTASTIC 99' R&J Tres Petit Lonsdale. Man this thing is a flavor bomb- gobs and gobs of the signiture red fruit over a bed of baking spices. ATTENTION HSA: If you were rolling current production to this level of standard in flavor and blend integrity my collection of roughly 1600 sticks would include more than just one box of 2004 Hermoso #1 EL's and 2 boxes of Cazadores. Come to think of it you really cant even count the EL's.

Your spot on about RyJ aavkk...I only have a handfull of them in my collection, a few dukes that I have left, a couple of short churchills. I plan on getting a box of cazadores in 2012...but thats the ONLY RyJ I see myself buying in the future. HSA need to do something to revive the brand...and releasing a RyJ Petit churchill is not the solution.

First cigar of the new year: PL Belicoso Extra. I've had way better from this cigar - perhaps the overly easy draw on this one is messing with the flavours. May have to plan for another smoke this afternoon to compensate for a 'meh' start to the smoking year. Also it's a balmy +5C here. Can't let a day like that go by when you live in Canada (am I right?).

Recap of my NYE smokes, too lazy to enter the comp

1. Behike 52 - first one, been waiting, glad i got a box.

2. Cuaba Divinos

3. LGC #4

4. RASS

All between the hours of 7pm and 1am, tongue needed a break, shared the BHKs with friends, they also enjoyed Upmann #2s, Cohiba Corona Esp., an Upmann Connie 1, Monte 5, and a few other sticks throughout the night, all in all a great way to ring in the new year.

Stellar start to 2012 so far for me. Had a Hamlet Custom Robusto Extra yesterday which is without a doubt the best cigar of the past year for me. Was incredible fresh and just gets better and better with each passing day. Only regret is not having a humidor full of these!

Today had an Upmann #2 which was another cigar which was certainly 'on' in 2011. The Upmann flavour profile shows remarkable consistentcy throughout the line and is one that works wonderfully for my pallate. Hoping the excellent construction and quality we saw in many marcas in 2011 continues for the coming year. Continued success to all for 2012!

I am so ashamed to say it, but I had a "Red Dot Cohiba" while taking down the Xmas lights from the house. Someone must have left it at my house while I wasn't looking, I swear. It was terrible.

I had the time to enjoy an 08 Party SdC #1 yesterday. Really excellent: spicy pepper at first, then it settled into a smooth complexity, with vanilla, caramel, coffee. Some pepper returned in the last third, but it was pleasant, not harsh, and I enjoyed every puff.

Nub 64 Habanos - it's the vitola HSA is slowly gravitating towards so might as well get used to it now :P

Had a Quesada Octoberfest "Bavarian" after the Nub yesterday - quite enjoyable with very strong coffee notes. Today, first a Villiger Premium Tubo (see "review" I posted) and now a Don Pablo Cigar Co. custom roll from Vegas. Oh boy...

Half way through a Partigas Lusi. Excellent so far. I just hope I can finish it. I've always had trouble with such a big cigar.

Party Short tonight. The most consistent cigar out there perhaps. Solid flavour profile right from the get go, construction always spot on. Perhaps the size makes it an easier vitola to roll consistently but just an absolute humidor staple.
