Just got done having a birthday dinner with my family and doing off the night with some smokes.

Curivari Reserva Limited Cafe: Just a great cigar. A world beater at its price.

Illusione Epernay Le Grande: This bad boy is on deck. If I'd known the Curivari was on the fuller side of medium, I might have smoked the Illusione first. These epernays are glorious, but tend to be a bit more delicate with their exclusion of ligero.

Curivari can do no wrong. Their La Gloria Leon is superb.

 I haven't had that one yet. I'll have to pick one up next time. I've only had the Buenaventura and the RL Cafe, and both have been really excellent cigars. When you factor in price, they're remarkable values.

@rmill3r nice bottle of Laphroig! Just happened to have some Quarter Cask last night with a Punch Punch and HDM Epicure #2 both from 08. Neither cigar was anything to write about. Im halfway through that particular box of Punch and have been underwhelmed every single time I've smoked one. So much so, I hesitated during the recent 24:24 where Prez was raving about them. Just never had a decent PP.

The quarter cask however was spot on, I wanted to drink the whole dang bottle.

Quintero Favorito as Project Garden moves to the pond /shed area. Meaty, beaty, big & bouncy as they say - I do like them, they do have their place in my cigar world.

DIC 05 Regalías de Londres. Almost identical in format (1 mm longer) but this feral little beauty is not a makeshift for the TPC. Not an overly generous gift of London....

HdM Le Hoyo Du Prince (RAE JUN 14) - Always reliable!

 

Vegas Robaina Short Robaina - Andorra Regional 2014 (SUE JUL 14) - Finally cracked open the box I bought earlier this year. It certainly hit the ground running, medium-to-full bodied, very earthy with an underlying cedar flavour, also a touch of dark chocolate at times. Overall a great little cigar, although I personally think they need just a tad longer as it felt a little rough round the edges at points.

Not usually posting much in the 'daily', but this I have to add: Beautiful (as always) Sig IV of recent production (2015) for a trial. Problems from the beginning with loose draw (won't say windtunnel feeling, but) and wonky burn, strongly affected taste (no comparison with my 2013 stock, but comparing tastewise was a bit unfair as you'll learn below).

Then, the revelation on construction - after ashing, little piggy staring at me:

Extremely poor bunching. As if someone had poked a nail across it, two straight, wide airchannels. Something I have never, and not in the least of Marcas ever experienced to such an extreme before (strangely and coincidentally(?) quite similar to what had been posted in another recent thread). Had not been visible from the foot nor had construction otherwise appeared in any way worrying from outer inspection. Managed (struggled) to make it through almost 2/3. I will take a "tent peg"-Molinos any day over such a garbage. 18 bucks for the bin. Sucks.

May be an outlier but - HSA, this is your flagship brand! Invest a little less effort in bling editions and get your regulars straight!

Fellow head always happy to see others. Brother went to Fenway night 1 which was apparently the heat. I've been listening to 1978-04-24 Horton Field House a LOT lately. TMNS is en fuego and since it's an official release the sound bumps!!!

Sorry for the delayed response, summer for me is like the winter for Northerns. I don't smoke very much and only pop in and out of here.
Yep, love the Dead. Unfortunately I didn't make the "Fare thee Well" in Chicago either, but got a few items from some friends that were there for the entire show. Still jammin old bootlegs that I transferred from tape to CD about 15 yrs ago. Now it's all online, makes life too easy! Cheers brotha
