carnivalhobo Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 My first H.Upmann Connoisseur No 1 this evening, great smoke, balanced, mellow, leather and tea, great size too, will buy more Sounded good so I enjoyed the unseasonably nice day and just finished one. My box is still on the young side and i think the final third should be better with more time. Nice short smoke though.
LLC Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Hamlet Shaggy Foot earlier today. Not as good as my last one but still very good.
Puros Y Vino Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 An uncannily warm and tranquil November night in Toronto I smoked a Monte PE. Typical Monte flavours, lots of nuts and spice, smooth cigar in all. Got a bit bland past the 2nd third. Second cigar of the night was a Partagas E2. I handed one over to my buddy ebhead and we smoked away. First third was very floral with some light spice. Second third a bit of leather, tobacco, coffee ground. Last third showed some trademakr Partagas power in fits and spurts. Overall the cigar was very enjoyable but not very "Partagas like". I'd venture that these need some sleep to really shine. Otherwise, gorgeous, well built cigar but still a tad young.
Rushman Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Rascc x 2 plus bolivar corona gigante --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=20.631668,-87.071018
Lotusguy Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 HdM Du Gourmet which was extremely enjoyable. Followed by a hopelessly overstuffed RyJ Mille Fleurs - Booooo!!! Both sticks from 2010.
riazp Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 Had a RyJ Wide Churchill last night at stogies with some botl's. Fun night. Cigar was ok, I was in the mood for something mild and it fit the bill quite nicely. Last one in my humi...thank god...will defenitly never order it again...cigar is tasty, but RG is just overkill for me...i'll stick to short churchills.
CptKloss Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 finishing Punch DC from a dress box from infamous "00"... i cut it years ago, and once i found out it's another one of the plugged ones, i put it aside, till this morning...hehe... after a terrible experience yesterday with one of the worst smokes i had a "pleasure" to smoke in a while (HdM palmas extra - fresh of the truck - totally devoid of any flavors, it felt like smoking a cigarette, yuck!!)...i reminded myself of a famous quote from the classic movie Galaxy Quest - Never surrender! Never Give Up! - and started punching (sic!) holes using my trusty Drawpoker (knowing quite well how ineffective it is)..after 6 or so holes and a split wrapper in several places...i knew i was in for a real treat! oh well... all in all it was fairly painfull but rewarding in the end 90 minutes... about 2/5 in the blockage was gone, draw improved and cigar opened up quite nicley rewarding my sacrifices with symphony of mellow but sophisitcated flavors... all i could really ask for :>
Lotusguy Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 Nothing today due to a cold. I took the available time to re-arrange my humidor in (somewhat) alphabetical order and without boxes stacked 2 deep so now you can see most of the stash in one glance. Notice the almost complete lack of NCs now (compared to my last full humi pics)
Michel1968 Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 2001 Diplomaticos No. 1 in all a good smoke. Mushrooms, toast, nuts, dried ferns... So, so for the first half but ended with 'hot fingers'. (@Lotusguy: Nice stash!!)
Strada Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 @lotusguy Holy Ish man....Niiiice Smoking a Cohiba Sig IV MUA NOV 09
dB69 Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Lotusguy, that is seriously beautiful view! Yesterday a RASCC -08 and today QdO GC -06. Both very delicious cigars.

Lotusguy Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Seriously...I don't think you have enough cigars yet... I agree fully - that's why I pre-ordered a box of RA Extra LE and will pick up a box of Boli Esp. #2 RE when I am in Germany in 2 weeks
mbrody Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Boli CJ Whata Cracker of a cigar...if they ever put this on the chopping block, I am stocking up!
LLC Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 My last Monty Petit Edmundo from March 2010 box of 10. I always seem to really enjoy this cigar.
Lotusguy Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Still down with a cold I have to make do with pulling random boxes out of my humi and smelling them
Wil Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 HDM du Maire - bit small, but a solid little smoke. Quintero panetela - weird almost sour opening. Great draw and burn but not much in the way of flavour.

Rushman Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 today was two cigar day. Opened up with a RASCC which was superb and closed the evening with a Cohiba Maduro 5 Magicos. I was very impressed with the Magicos, and honestly had low hopes before i cut and lit her up.
joshua84 Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 A long thought for today, Just received a box of BRC's from Czar. I got it from LFTH last Friday, PE only. Can't wait so having one right out of the box now. I'm writing as I smoke and as my thoughts flow. I call this live drafting (some of you reading this might think it's crap). Construction is great, firm stick with a slight oiliness. Quite smooth wrapper with some veining. Didn't taste the draw cold cause I light it the 3 match sticks method (ok, I didn't use matches but I have developed the habit of not cutting my cigar first. It still lights perfectly just takes a little bit more time). First puff is wood and barn yard but in a mild way. Having a root beer with it and goes quite well with it. Towards the end of the first third, can taste more leather (still in a mild way). The ash holds well, greyish and not flaky. Smoke is wholesome. Lots and lots of smoke. A tinge of coffee starts developing as the 1st third is coming to an end. Not black coffee but with a few drops of milk. Can taste the cocoa now. But overall dominant flavour is still barn yard and wood in a very nice way. The burn at the beginning is very even for the 1st third and the smoke is quite cool. Wait, some spice is coming up as the 1st third ends. A slight pepperiness is coming up. The ash is holding up very well, slightly more than an inch now. Wow, volumes and volumes of smoke with each puff. I might be a heavy draw type. The flavor hasn't change as it goes into the 2nd third. Still wood and barn yard with those other earlier flavor undertones but in a mild way. I'm thinking this as medium light (might be due to the shipping but works well for me). The burn is till very even. Somehow the taste reminds me of the Monte No. 2 that I just had a few days ago but woodier. Halfway through the 2nd third now, flavour is still constant. The tinge of spice and pepper moments ago is gone. The draw until now is perfect. It's about 11.10 p.m here. The night is cool. Oh, a spike of coffee but now it's gone. Ash is great, can still see the vein on it. By the way, the box is a June 2011. I'm thinking that the cigar taste isn't affected by shipping much since it just takes 4 days to reach me. Kurt sent it out on the 15th and I got it today. So, probably it didn't suffer as much shock and still maintains smoothness in its flavour. The post now looks like verbal diarrhea now in the post editor. I notice that the cigar is burning quite fast since it's been only about 20 minutes since I started. Anyway, I do think among the soft drinks, root beer really goes well with cigars. Just ashed it a second time. Just took out the label as the the burn comes close, minimal gluing and comes off easily without tearing. The woodiness seems to increase, more noticeable when you take a whiff of it. Still, less woody than a BPC. A side topic, I took out three sticks for my humidor and the rest are sitting in the freezer now. After seeing that brown bugger, I've adopted a 100% freezing policies for my cigars with 4 days in the freezer. This BRC is really making my day. I just got off work at 9. The 2nd third is coming to an end now. The woodiness becomes more pronounced but still smooth. Slight bitterness note seems to be developing, probably due to the age or maybe I'm rushing it a bit. But the smoke is still cool. I would consider this a cappuccino while the RASS a double shot latte. Can feel the nicotine now as the smoke warms up. I'm not sure if it's the same for you guys but I always get a nicotine rush only at the end of every smoke no matter how long the cigar is or how long I smoke it. I did not read the rules for this forum but I am getting a feeling that this post is going to break a rule somewhere (or ethics at least). In the last third now, coffee. I'm thinking coffee and some spice. A spike of leather now and continuing then some milkiness. Since the beginning until now, right in the middle of the last third, excellent burn. No unevenness at all. The burning has also slowed down since the halfway mark. But overall, a very consistent flavour from beginning until the end with the woodiness and leather growing towards the end. Ashing it for the last time (3 in total) and let it slowly go off. Overall thoughts, satisfied and wouldn't mind if the rest of the bunch tasted like this. There, a very happy customer of Czar.
