Popular Post JohnS
Cigars I've had lately... 1) H.Upmann Royal Robusto (thanks Kam) A powerhouse Upmann, especially strong on toasted tobacco and smoked on a hot 35°C Sunday. Still, the company was great and as I reflect back on the cigar, it was too! 2) Trinidad Reyes RMU Ago 15 If you've picked these up on recent 24:24 sales, kudos to you as this is the second stick I've had from my November 2015 acquisition and I'm quite happy how this is progressing. Real nice coffee, wood, spice, honey, grass, nut, herbal, floral and tobacco notes, it's just as complex flavour-wise as the last one I had a few months ago. 3) Por Larranaga Petit Corona OEB Abr 08 (thanks Jason) When these are aged between 5 to 8 years, they really come into their own. Wood, honey, tobacco and caramel especially in abundance, what a sweet way to spend a pleasant mid-week afternoon! 4) Cohiba Siglo VI ARG Jun 15 This is my second from the box, about 3 to 4 months since the last and the grass, honey notes are here, together with a little vanilla coming through. Again, I'm very satisfied with how these are progressing. 5) Cohiba Robusto Supremo ARG Dic 14 I had this with my brother-in-law to celebrate his birthday. The 58 ring gauge, as well as the rich flavour that comes from the wrapper and blend in this 2014 LE means that it definitely hasn't hit my personal 'sweet spot'. It probably needs another 6 months to 1 year to see how it's coming along. 6) H. Upmann Petit Corona ROA Sep 06 You may not keep your stash of H.Upmann Petit Coronas around long enough to truly savour how special this cigar is at this age. Truly outstanding. Coffee, cream, cocoa, tobacco, cedar and shortbread throughout, I wanted another immediately after I nubbed it! 7) San Cristobal La Fuerza FJN Jul 05 Although not as good as the H.Upmann Petit Corona, this was still a cigar that punched above its weight. As a gordito (50rg x 141 mm), it tends to 'fly under the radar', but it's well-worth giving it a try for a change of pace, you'll be glad you did. Coffee, cream, cocoa and molasses and smooth from beginning to end. 8) Ramon Allones Club Allones LE 2015 AUM Jul 15 Leather, tobacco, cedar, chocolate and stewed fruit and so incredibly refined for such a young cigar, I can't pay enough accolades for how outstanding this 2015 Limited Edition cigar is. Check it out if you have not done so already!

Puros Y Vino
Had a few cigars last night. (pls excuse the crappy pics) Opened things up a La Escepcion Don Jose. I finally got my hands on some. This was one strong and rich cigar. Possibly stronger than the Selectos Finos upon release. This gave me a bit of the "shakes". Tasting notes: popcorn, hickory, roasted nuts. Very full bodied. Next up was a Trini Rob T. After the Don Jose, I took a little break, drank some water, got some fresh air and then lit up a "softer" cigar. The Trini did the trick. (no picture) My final cigar of the night was a Hamlet Tabaquero Corona. Great construction and draw. Notes of dark chocolate now and then. Some floral notes in the first third. This was also a full bodied, strong cigar. The blend is definitely different from the robusto but it was not as good as it. These have travelled a long road to get to me. Maybe they need some sleep. Overall a very good cigar for an NC. After smoking this my brain was swimming.

Cheers! maybe that will be fixed in the new site. Also, I'm a little disappointed. I thought it was special that you "liked" my posts but now I find out that you like everyones and I feel like I've been lied to.
