CigSid Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 I'm pretty accommodating and rarely find a Habanos I just don't care for at all. The HU Mag 56 I smoked this evening falls in to that category though. It was well constructed but just didn't do it for me at all... Prominent chocolate from the very dark Maduro wrapper was about all I got. Fairly harsh and one dimensional. Perhaps a bad example (poor picture too) but even though i enjoy the marca not one I believe I'll be pursuing. .. Mike, I felt the same way with my first one... Then after about a week in the dry box, tried another, and man what a difference...
Popular Post CigSid Posted January 2, 2016 Popular Post Posted January 2, 2016 Started the evening out with a very nice Behike 54... creamy, smooth and delicious... 46 degrees here in So Cal, but nice and warm next to the fire.Next up was a 1980 something Montecristo Especial. Amazing... 5

archosaur Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Despite the bad initial reviews, I picked up a 10 box of these Monte Petite 2s a while back. The first one I tried about a year ago was very closed but this one was nice...all espresso and dark chocolate. Quality tobacco, solid little cigar. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk 2
LLC Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Cracked open a MUS SEP 14 box of Sig IV's after putting my last few RUE SEP 11 into my long term aging humidor to join some others from 2008. First one was very good but will likely not try one again until next summer. 3
NapaNolan Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 No pics, but a wonderful older (10+ years) Por Larrañaga Corona Extra while walking the dog this morning.
Popular Post billh1 Posted January 2, 2016 Popular Post Posted January 2, 2016 Broke out the Esplendidos to share with my Brothers Bart & Jason... This will be my first stick of 2016 so I figured I'd start out with a bang! We're getting ready to fire these babies up and drink a little Zacapa! Cheers! Bill Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 13
Popular Post torsion Posted January 2, 2016 Popular Post Posted January 2, 2016 Herfin with the UKCF lads (oh and Sir Winston!) in London today at JJFox. Lancero '05 box code to start followed by a young Trini Coloniales (never seen a Trini with such a dark wrapper) post lunch baguette. Great bunch of guys 7
Popular Post JohnS Posted January 2, 2016 Popular Post Posted January 2, 2016 Cigars I've been enjoying this festive season... 1) H.Upmann Noella (2009 - Thanks Trevor!) The easiest way to classify this cigar is by describing it as the 'Complex Upmann'. An assortment of flavours through the thirds, from shortbread smooth to espresso and toasted tobacco in the middle and bitter chocolate at the end. Thank you Trevor for allowing me to sample this, as a 'change-of-pace' cigar, I understand why these are so popular! 2) Cohiba Piramides Extra ULA Dic 2013 My favourite 'change-of-pace' in 2015, glorious smooth notes of honey, cream, vanilla and that ubiquitous Cohiba grass. 3) Montecristo No.2 (2006 or 07 - Thanks Trevor!) There's nothing like a friend giving you an aged cream/cocoa/coffee/tobacco stogie which obliterated all my memories of the average Montecristo No.2's I've had in 2015! 4) Cohiba Maduro 5 Secretos (2007 - Thanks Trevor!) Another lovely 'change-of-pace' cigar which won't let you down when it comes to sweet coffee/chocolate/leather and toasted tobacco. Even better when aged such as this one. 5) Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo des Dieux RSE Feb 2003 (thanks Fuzz!) Thanks to Fuzz for sharing from his 50 cab, these gems remind us all of what glorious unbanded 50 cab cigars once offered, generic bliss cigar experiences one after the other! A 12 year-old sweet and smooth cream stick is the best way to describe this wondrous corona, which sadly is less common these days. 11
Popular Post jclark33 Posted January 3, 2016 Popular Post Posted January 3, 2016 Cohiba Esplendido & a double Zacapa, thanks Bill! 7

Buch0 Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 About to smoke this Cohiba Robusto Supremos LE 2014 and open a bottle of Martell XO! Could think of worse ways to end the holidays 4
Popular Post Lotusguy Posted January 3, 2016 Popular Post Posted January 3, 2016 Two extremely nice REs. The 898 was totally beat up in transport by the guys at LCDH Nuernberg who also don't believe in any kind of plastic seal around the sticks or boxes... Still I am 3 for 3 winners with this cigar now. 6

Never had a 09 but this is exactly and to the point what I'd say about the later edition (2013). Excellent cigar. 1

Have to agree, had five 898 from at least three different sources now. All winners, all highly consistent. I'd say they got this one extremely right. But I can see why it could be a highly controversial cigar due to its current flavour profile. How was the Gran Cano tastewise? Paul

Popular Post torsion Posted January 3, 2016 Popular Post Posted January 3, 2016 Next one from Mike a '99 Partagas Charlotte. Another first I've tried for this vitola, what a difference 15 years makes.Such a delightful smoke. Smoking these aged cigars over the past couple of weeks is a dangerous game for me as its making me want to hunt some down! 5
