If it's not far I might ask to meet them there instead. mucho appreciato for any advice

brutusthebuckeye Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 one dreads to ask what possible business could take you there? Hes going to be fireing up a Meth Lab in that area......lol...lol...lol...
Buch0 Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Haha yer there wont be much for you to do in Gosford mate, its a very quite town. Maybe get the work over and done with and then trek down to Sydney for a few days.. Atleast the weather will be tops around that time.
Buch0 Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Hes going to be fireing up a Meth Lab in that area......lol...lol...lol... More like cannabis crops around that area
Fuzz Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Australia Walkabout Wildlife Park or the Australian Reptile Park are probably the only attraction worth seeing. If you're into some real excitement, you can head down south to a town called Budgewoi. Famous for it's slot car track!! Best bet is to either head north up to the Entrance, if you want something scenic that's close, or south to Sydney.
bunburyist Posted October 16, 2009 Author Posted October 16, 2009 haha - sounds like a gem... (apologies for posting and disappearing btw) can't talk business online of course but construction is my game Googled slot cars. What a disappointment. In the UK getting slotted means getting either drunk, getting shagged or getting shot. So I was expecting something a bit more exciting...
dicko Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 I think 'trent from punchy' has a connect up in gosford...
bunburyist Posted December 9, 2009 Author Posted December 9, 2009 So, first trip to 'straya done - what an awesome place Sydney is. I like how there are lots of leafy open neighbourhoods with views over the harbour so close to the cbd, not many places like that in Asia Weather was awesome, went to a few beaches - place called Palm Beach about a 30min drive up the coast and stayed in a beach house...great fun. BBQs every night. Went to the SCG and the Waratahs stadium - nice. Was it Hunter Valley where the vinyards are? Obviously I did a lot of travelling in the 3 days Gosford and the central coast.....not a lot going on up there eh? Lot's of potential though so I hope to be back in the new year some time. Would note btw that on two occasions Brisbane was described as a 'country village that got too big'. I'll put that down to state rivalry as when I said I support the Reds.....''you don't know what you're talking about mate'' Anyway, great place Australia. Would love to spend a couple of weeks having a look around the whole country.

El Presidente Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Glad you enjoyed it Andrew! You would need a couple of months to get a glimpse of the country. The scale is amazing. Want to see you in Brisbane next time. Ken and I will take you to a "Reds" game. Depressing viewing but you will have a whole new respect for us diehards

bunburyist Posted December 9, 2009 Author Posted December 9, 2009 aye, it's on the to-do list. How long would it take to drive up from Sydney to Brisbane? That'd be a nice way to see the coast. I could to a tour of all those places where they have slot machines and $10 steaks - awesome. Had no idea those existed but everywhere seemed to have them. RSL was it? not sure what it stood for, but good fun. You can make 1 cent bets on those things.... is that where you guys spend most Friday nights?

bunburyist Posted December 9, 2009 Author Posted December 9, 2009 ah right, bit like the Legion back in the UK, except the RSLs seemed like family places / pubs Sydney - Brisbane on bikes would be pretty cool
Fuzz Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 ah right, bit like the Legion back in the UK, except the RSLs seemed like family places / pubsSydney - Brisbane on bikes would be pretty cool RSLs are the usual gathering place for an odd creature called the Sydney Westie, closely related to the Booner (found in Canberra's outer region), the Bogan (spread throughout Melbourne), and the Bevan (Brisbane). Family groups tend to plonk their elderly in front of a "pokie", while the dominant male and females will be stuffing themselves at the buffet, and their young offspring allowed to roam freely.

Clearly I was high-rolling all the way on my trip
LBStotch Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 so....not the kind of place you light up a lancero and a nice malt? Ha ha ha ha ha thats the funniest thing I have heard this week. Maaayte, you want a f**kin' pack of Winnie Blues and a schooey of VB
bunburyist Posted December 9, 2009 Author Posted December 9, 2009 Ha ha ha ha ha thats the funniest thing I have heard this week.Maaayte, you want a f**kin' pack of Winnie Blues and a schooey of VB that reminds me - introduced to the concept of a 'scuna', basically for people who can't handle pints.
ARRV Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 that reminds me - introduced to the concept of a 'scuna', basically for people who can't handle pints. schooner - basically a way to rip you off by charging you for a pint but giving you a can. Sydney is nice. Brisbane is nice too - plenty of construction up there, the gold coast and FNQ are exploding or so we are told down here. Don't drvie between Sydney and Brisbane - no view, dangerous roads - only arterial road between Sydney and Brisbane is the Pacific Highway and at some stages it is one lane each way like an average suburban street except that you share it with enormous 18 wheelers. Get a plane and look out the window. Gosford? What do you build? Jails?
