Ken Gargett Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 i remember some of the guys posted re sailor jerry's rum. not one we see out here but just came across some recent figures i thought might be of interest. RUM. Another industry hot shot is Sailor Jerry Rum, with volumes up a whopping 92.3% in the 52 weeks. In the four weeks, Sailor Jerry rose 84.2%. Admiral Nelsons rum gained 34.8% in the year and 26.5% in the month.
brutusthebuckeye Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I got a bottle over a year ago...but i haven't tried it yet...i may give it a go
sloth Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 this is my favorite spice rum that is readily available in my area. It isn't special except that it higher in alc than other spiced rums. I prefer it over other cheap rums, but it is slightly more expense. Around there it isn't bottled in glass bottles anymore, just plastic.
thechenman Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Never been a huge fan of the spiced rum varieties...
Ginseng Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Just finished a bottle. Rather unremarkable in my opinion. Less offensive than the Captain but that's not saying much. Sipping is its weak point. As a mixer, not bad. Wilkey

trumpetchris Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 you're nuts to drink it straight. With coke (or coke zero as I prefer it) a fantastic mixer. Oh, and make a "dirty pirate mojito" with it. Make a mojito, substitute Sailor for your regular rum. Different taste alltogether.
stargazer14 Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Call me nuts. I like it straight. but then i shave with a broken clam shell too. I keep a bottle on the boat at all times and traditionally we do a shot when we get back to the marina. I enjoy it.

samb Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 My experience with rum is not much, and i enjoy sailor jerry, but not captain morgan.
blooz4u Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 I will drink Salor Jerry over coke and ice, but for a straight sipper and a great cigar pair, I love the Matusalem 15 yr, and the Zacapa 23, both of which you *should* be able to find in your area, Sloth!

I second you on the Zacapa 23. IMHO, one of he best rums out there.
acidmase Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 The thing why Sailor Jerry increased in the last month was because their numbers were horribly down. So the sales reps of Sailor Jerry made deals with retailers that they couldn’t refuse. I myself work for a Wine & Spirit store in New Jersey. It is a fairly good mixing rum, almost has the same tasting profile as Captain Morgan just a little higher in alcohol
ChanceSchmerr Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 I'm a Sailor Jerry fan, but as a mixer exclusively. It really doesn't stand up on its own. With some coke, I taste a strong cherry flavour that I really like. Can't hold a candle to Angostura 1919, HC Barrel Proof or Mount *** Extra Old on its own.......
bassman Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Clemont Creole Shrubb from Martinique is an excellent rum flavored with orange zest & spices. Very tasty on the rocks.
