Evo03 Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Didn't have much time tonight, so a Punch Petit Punch fits the bill.
Mr Peales Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 2003 Bolivar CG last Thursday; medium-bodied saturated sweet tobacco flavors. This cigar was quite the distraction. I had a hard time conversing with friends as the flavors were so 'forward.' This was about the fifth one that I have smoked so far, they might prefer my desktop humidor to my 'deep' storage as each one has gotten more intense. Saturday a 2004 Romeo and Julieta Exhibition #4. My first out of this box and was happy to discover that classic Ex#4 profile. Identical to a 2000 box that I have (nearly finished). First third a bit of spice and wood –nothing to write home about– then suddenly, within one pull there were those familiar mellow fruit notes. They stayed nearly to the end. At times the flavors were similar to a well aged Lusitania. These cigars are not quite ready yet. Monday, 1998 Partagas Londsdale. This cigar was superb. It came on like a train. Mellowed after the first six hits and then just unfolded those big Partagas flavors. Eyes-rolling-to-the-back-of-the-head goodness. Tuesday, 2005 Upmann Magnum 46. Great old-school flavors, straight-forward-old-man's-cigar, it goes from a medium to a strong cigar in the course of its sixty minutes. Unfortunately I was in the middle of a great BWO hatch and couldn't really give the cigar the attention it deserved. A very unique cigar, none of my other Upmanns are like this, no other cigar I have ever smoked are like these! As I write this, 1998 Punch Corona. 3 smoke rings. Nothing out-of-place, a solid little cigar I would gladly smoke anytime.
PigFish Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 It was a Partagas Lonsdale cab/select for me while waiting for dinner at the in-laws. Great smoke anytime of day or night. I can't remember the vintage. -Piggy
mongboy Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Just smoked a Bolivar PC POS ABR 07. Not much to look at but rich chocolate with spice...Glorious !!
Smooth Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Had a CoRo on the deck with Rob. Classic young Cohiba, perfect cuban draw, creamy, subtle hay/grass and a nice espresso and soft cedar finish. The burn was a little off and required many touch ups purely due to youth. Id rate it 88. Gorgeous young cigar. Firing up a fresh Mag 46 and a D4 very shortly. Friend will be joining me and smoking another D4 and a RG Corona Extra. Will post our thoughts.
Smooth Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Well we retired inside after the first two smokes and decided to save the D4's for next week. I smoked a Mag46 and it was sensational, with conversation and drinks flowing, the hour+ flew by and I was left perfectly satisfied. This fresh Mag46 was every bit as good as the best 5 year aged Mag46's of days gone by. Was blown away by how smooth, rich and perfect this smoke was. Stock up on these if you have the chance, perfect burn and just a stellar Mag 46. Cant really give any flavour profiles as I didnt have a chance to analyse!!! Easily a 91 right out of the box. Extra point over a 90 awarded for flawless burn and the fact I just enjoyed the smoke without having to think about it. Mate smoked a fresh RG Coronas Extra and being a beginner cigar smoker loved every minute. He said it was smooth as silk and is keen to try many more cubans. Win win. Great smokes, great times!
perfectform Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Last night was an SLR Serie A that I got in a boxpass. Don't know the production date, but I can tell you I fully enjoyed this cigar. Along with the Regios, I get a very distinct fruity note on the back end. Reminds me of the cereal "fruity pebbles." A solid 88.
mbrody Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Am enjoying an 08 P2 from Justin. High 80's for sure. Got legs it does. Smooth, I went ga ga after my first trial of the Mag 46. Jumped on a few more boxes as I nubbed the first from a fresh 08 box. Rob's reco was a very good one indeed and the recent Mag could just be my top smoke. Will they go the distance?
Habanos2000 Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 2008 Partagas Serie P2 again! I enjoyed it all the way to the last 3rd when it started turning a little too young in taste. Funny, considering how the first 2/3rds were pretty rich.

The flavours are there and should evolve very nicely over time, exceptional smoke right out of the box.
bassman Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Currently halfway through a DIC 08 Quay D'Osay Imperiale. Solid medium bodied cigar, with very nice toasty flavor. Not terribly complex, no doubt due to it's youth, but this cigar is neither mild or bland. Very satisfying.
brutusthebuckeye Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 After breakfast this morning i sat back with a cup of coffee and a Hoyo Epi#2(ema mar 08)...great way to start the day...
PartagasIV Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 This morning had a Hoyo Regalos with coffee. A nice woodsy spice to it.
MIKA27 Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Had a HDM Double Carona and finished it about an hour ago. Fantastic, tight construction with hints of wood, leather, vanilla and floral undertones.
maalouly Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 On Friday I had VR Don Alejandro from an 00 box I bought the cigar from Crown Casino Melbourne it was excellent but somehow prefer my 06. The 06 have stronger taste and more variety in flavour. On Saturday,I first had a Partagas SD4 from an 05 box beautiful smoke, you just can't fault it shame I only have few left then I had a Lusi from an 05 box, amazing smoke. Perfect draw and the taste was just amazing pure Partagas. Then I had a rubbish smoke from NC or Dominican can't remember got it from a mate of mine, El Credito ... didn't like it at all, well you wouldn't really blame me after I had two of the nicest cuban cigars. Sunday, I had HDM Des Dieux from an 02 box, just amazing, the woody/caramel/coffee taste is amazing.
bassman Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 04 Esplendido today. Don't care for many cigars from 04, but this was quite an exception.
Habanos2000 Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 While in Phoenix AZ, smoked a Nicaraguan Casa Magna with a friend. The cigar looked nice, the draw was just a tad on the loose side, the ring guage was way to large for my tastes and the flavor was on the mild side. There were really no pronounced flavors that came to the forefront, pretty one dimensional as compared to a CC. Overall not a BAD cigar, but just not something I would go out of my way to purchase. Even at the fairly reasonable price of under $6 a stick.
mkz Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Yesterday: Bolivar Petit Coronas (2007). Great Boli-flavours with baked bread and creamy strong tobacco. To my surprise this little bugger was still tannic and way to young in flavour to be totally satisfying. I have great hope for these in maybe two more years. Potential!! Today: Diplomaticos 4 (2006). I love these!! In some strange way it feels like these are the most honest cigars I own. Nothing fancy, no bullshit!! Just good toasted tobacco with a smooth medium body. Superb!!
PointSource Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 PSD4 from Jun 08 As Prez would say....this cigar has wheels. Fantastic. Long, white ash. Produced tons of aromatic smoke. Amazingly pure tobacco flavors from a cigar in its infancy.
El Presidente Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Enjoying a great little Partagas Belvedere. It has been a few years but what a lovely surprise. Medium bodied, good rich Cuban Tobacco flavour.
