Colt45 Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 I've been drinking these since they were released for this season, and to me, they seem sweeter and a bit creamier - kind of like a blue moon or similar. They're still pretty good, but I think less hoppy than they used to be. Has anyone else noticed this, or perhaps it's just me? I've switched to Harpoon Summer, which has a similar flavor, but to my palate is more hoppy.
b0rderman Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 thanks for the heads up...will have to check it out as I usually buy a couple cases of the SA-SA each summer. I don't know if I could stand it any sweeter.

PointSource Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I've had 3-4 six packs of SA/SA and found it to be spot on!
cvm4 Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Bought a case last week. Haven't touched them yet. Waiting for the weekend
GP012 Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Bought a case last week. Haven't touched them yet. Waiting for the weekend I haven't had much of the Sam Summer, but Harpoon's UFO White that just came out is excellent. Much crisper than the regular UFO, it isn't quite as heavy, which is quite nice.

Maybe a good excuse to head to the brewery for a tasting And thanks guys - as you drink a few, let me know your thoughts.
b0rderman Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Went for a New Belgium mixer instead of the SASA yesterday...the NB mixer was on sale and one of the best I've seen in the last couple of years...here was the line up: 1554, Fat Tire, Mothership Wit and the Trippel...all winners in my book. I'll do my best to resist the temptation of awesome sales (and that delicious Harpoon recomendation) next time

jwm8592 Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 Hey Colt, I like Sam Adams, but not the Summer, can't drink their Oktoberfest either, still have some from a 12 pack from months ago. IMHO it has always a little to sweet for mt palate. But I really like their Winter Lager. How about some favorite beers out there? Some of mine are: - Fat Tire: New Belgium Brewing Co, Fort Collins, Colorado - 99 Shilling: can't remember the brewery, but also Colorado - Shiner Bock: Shiner, Texas - Moerlein Lager House: Cincinnati, Ohio - Becks & Yuengling old stand byes
cvm4 Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 Drank a couple bottles. Loved it and wonder how my friends keep drinking bud/miller-lite. I don't remember what last years tastes like but I'm happy with the recent batch.
GoSteelers Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 Man I just can't drink White beers feels like my stomach will explode A couple of good summer options for those who don't do the Witt thing New Belgium Skinny Dip -delicious light pilsner style ale / American Blond Ale Red Hook Sun Rye -crisp & light rye ale
IceChant Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 My sister likes the SASA, I don't think what we get in here is exactly the same as I don't remember that it's so sweet as I know I would notice I don't drink many sweet drinks and I don't add sugar to my drinks.
mailman Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 for the past year, i've been on a steady diet of weinstephaner (Worlds oldest brewery est. 1040ad) fest bier, crystal and dunkel. substitutes during this time have been filled in w/ flying dog tire bite, warstiner dunkel. haven't had SASA in a couple years, good stuff also like the cherry wheat in the summer.
