mongboy Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I find it pretty difficult to age these to any extent. They're always a staple in the humidor and I find myself continually going to them. This stick had the usual, impeccable Trinidad construction. Aroma at cold was a sharp Cedar. Clipped the cap to find the usual, impeccable Trinidad draw with more Cedar and a hint of Almond. 1st 3rd Surprisingly enough the Cedar that was prominent at cold was also very dominant after lighting. After the 1st centimetre, started to develop a Vanilla note followed through by bitter Chocolate. 2nd 3rd Delighted to find the bitterness fading and creamy Vanilla and Cedar coming to the fore. This, for me, is pretty much the classic Reyes profile. Final 3rd Any lingering bitterness had completely dissipated by this stage. The medium-bodied, creamy Vanilla profile carried through to the end, which I nubbed. This stick was an easy 4/6 smokerings, maybe even 4.5 at a stretch. I would love to know if anyone has managed to age these say over 3+ years and what, if any, changes occur. Unfortunately I don't think I'll ever find out as I can't keep my hands off them.
aavkk Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 nice review thanks. I have a similar box code aging and am working my way through early 07's right now.
ChicagoWhiteSox Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I have burned through the 2008's like crazy. The 07's have been bleh for me. The few 2006's that i have been gifted are stellar.
skullnrose Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Thanks for the review. I have been enjoying the 08's recently. Great little sticks.
PSU OpusX Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 I have 2 boxes of these and I can never get enough of them. They're a great, quick cigar that never fails.
