Japanese scotch? What next, Australian port and California champagne?

I've not tried it, but have read it rates fairly highly.

It rates high. It's rare around my parts, but why would I want to drink scotch thats not from scotland? Maybe it really is good?

For me, Ill stick with Lagavulin 16 year old

IMO, there is no single malt that can compare with Lagavulin 16 that's readily available.

It's Japanese Single Malt. 'Scotch' is only made in Scotland. Yamazaki is very good. Especially for the price.

I totally agree with the Lagavulin 16.

never tried japanese scotch or malt (think that is a better descriptor) but told it s good. appartently the industry was originally started by some locals who were fans and it has grown. i'm also told, no idea of true but like to think so, tha they renamed a town aberdeen where some is made, so they could claim scotch or malt from aberdeen.

Gentlemen... Relax and calm down... Yamazaki 12 and 18 are fine Japanese whiskies that resemble the wonderful taste of single malt. they are made by the same process and are infused with all the extacy that we love about Scotches. Not made in Scottland is their only down fall.. Remeber the movie Lost in translation with bill Murray and Scarlet Johanson? The whiskey he was promoting was a real producrt. Infact i ijntroduced it to my local piano bar and get a discount on every dram served. Suntory 12 and 18... Don't turn your nose up at a fine product just becuse of it's origins... I too love Lagavulin 16, but I'm so closed minded as not to enjoy the labors of others...

Prost and Compi my friends...
