Chicago Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 I know wthere are many opinions out there and things do not happen in a vacuum, but overall, do you think the US stimulus package will jumpstart the economy and lead to a lasting recovery? Please refrain from ranting, a simple yes or no will do, let's not turn this into an arguement of ideologies... Thanks!
stargazer14 Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 I'm thinking it won't help much and more will be spent on another failed idea in a few months. I DO think that if each taxpayer in the U.S. was given $200,000 that the economy would be jumping real fast, for less cost.
DocRKS Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Short answer -NO. The plan calls for a married couple to get an $800 tax credit over 1 Calendar year....... What's that going to 'stimulate 'over the the course of a year?
El Presidente Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 No Addresses symptoms and not the core problems. Don't worry....there will be another two "Stimulus packages" this year.
habanohal Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Wont do D2ck here. It will give me an extra $12 or $13 a week BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
anacostiakat Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Wont do D2ck here. It will give me an extra $12 or $13 a week BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Heh-heh. I spill more than that a week...
jwm8592 Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 If you mfg. condoms, or any other sexual disease prevention items, mfg golf carts (that are going to be GREEN in nature other than electric, if you work for ACORN, or work for any company which had ties to major $$ contributions to the messiah, and his band of merry men & woman than it should help to some degree, but for the average American NO!
jeromeroselli Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 I did my corporate and personal taxes on Wednesday and I asked my accountant this question. His response was... "Yes for now, but in 6 months the recession would eventually fix itself because that's what recessions do. Now, after spending a trillion dollars, it will bring us up at first, but in 10-15 years we will end up paying for it" I guess you just gotta have faith.....
matthew261 Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Likely to be the largest and most negatively impactful policy decision in U.S. history and both sides of the aisle can take credit for that. Put me down for a "no."
cvm4 Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Looks like a big wish-list spending bill to me. And it doesn't address the root of the problems.
habanohal Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Bail out the rich CEO assholes and give us poor folks $10..................... Its all apart of BIG GOVERMENT
SofaKing Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 No. $600 bucks does nothing for me, don't get me wrong I will take it but it will only pay my car payment and a months gas. Big F'n, deal it's not going change my life or the local business down the road and most people will piss it away rather than pay a credit card of put it towards their mortgage.
kilroy Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 I think the stimulus is going to be a complete success for what its designed to do.... .. pay off the ruling party's interests, lobbyists and supporters to insure they keep getting elected. Those people unfortunately are not hardworking Americans who want to succeed instead of sucking off the gigantic government ***.
Jimmy2 Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Where is the bill? Was to be put up for public view for all to see before the vote thats what dems said. They are hiding something and i know what alot of our wasted tax dollars on stuff that has nothing to do with helping us. They are going to make Bush look like an angel when this is all over. This is our TAX $$$ the American poeple and they have no respect for us as to post what the hell its all going to!!!!!!!!
anacostiakat Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 They did not even read it before they voted on it.
rudder Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 They did not even read it before they voted on it. No they didnt. We're off to a good start If the prevention of STD's is stimulating the economy then yes.
qman22 Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 No chance this helps. It is one giant leap toward socialism

This is an example of politics, "Chicago Style." They are paying off a group of patronage employees and interest groups that they hope will keep them in power for years to come. NO is my vote.
Lanthor Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 No. Even the CBO said long term it will have a negative effect on GDP compared to if we did nothing, and of course pointed out the huge impact to the deficite. The unemployment rate in 1933 when FDR kicked off The New Deal was 21%, when the program ended in 1938 it was 19%. Great blueprint to follow.
