Gonz Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 I don't know about everyone else, but I think I really dig this Online Humidor that is offered. It's a great way to keep my greedy claws off of cigars that ought to be aging, it's a great way to free up space in the home humidor, The Wife© doesn't have to put up with any more coolidors, and The Wife© doesn't have to say, "You have another package of cigars?"! So who else is putting it to good use? How many boxes are folks keeping in there?
Tampa1257 Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 I voted no, not at this time. This is only because of finances on my part. There will be a time that I expect to have 20+ boxes in storage with Rob.
Fatshotbud Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 I think it is a great idea and helps me with shipping difficulties plus lack of room at house.
yossie Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 The humidor is very useful and I don't need to think of the rest of space in my home. but you know.. I often intend to purchase too many... yeah, Rob is a great business person indeed
Don Candido Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 I voted yes - less than five boxes. Lisa set this up for me last week. I am pretty sure I will register as crazy, soon.
android Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 I voted no but I do plan on utilizing this service for duplicate boxes for long term storage and to also divert purchases during the summer months in Georgia until cooler weather sets in for shipping....I do the same with all wine purchases.
Don Candido Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 basically, lockers are evil services, created to help make us feel good about buying more cigars than we have space for... ooops, did I say that out loud?
perfectform Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Well I think I've gone crazy and I don't even have 20 boxes in there yet...and yes, it is a great focal point for rationalizing purchases...
craigos Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Online humidor is a godsend. I have 30 boxes and it forces me not to touch them.
Gonz Posted December 17, 2008 Author Posted December 17, 2008 I'm glad to see that I'm not pushing the limits of what is allowed, or what people feel should be stored there! I've got about 16 boxes in there right now (just added 5 thanks to the Get Rooted sale!), and I was starting to wonder if there's members out there that have significantly more than that, and it appears so! Thanks for the replies!
Habanos2000 Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 I think it's a great service, but I'm all about instant gratification and can't even conceive of having cigars sitting somewhere out of my reach!
Gonz Posted December 17, 2008 Author Posted December 17, 2008 What is the Online Humidor? Look at the banner ad to your right, the one that says "Online Cigar Locker"! It appears some here might consider it a device of the Devil...
soltino Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 The Online Locker is a great way to hide your purchases from the missus, or leave boxes tucked away so that you don't dip into them too early I use it for both situations and generally have about 15 boxes in there at any one time... it really is a great service!
Shelby07 Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 I was explaining this to a friend the other night. All of a sudden Pauline figured it out and said "So THAT'S why you aren't getting any more boxes delivered!!" 7 boxes so far, but this could get out of hand real soon. Seriously, this is a great service. There were s couple of things I wanted to get, but had no room so I registered. I kinda wish I had started this up earlier. Some of the other things I bought to put away are just taking up space in my humi that could be put to good use for shorter term stuff. I have been wondering a couple of things, tho. 1. When I eventually request that they be shipped, will there be a shipping charge or is the free shipping carried over from the original order? 2. If/when something happens to me (face it - nobody gets out alive,) who gets the cigars? Is there some way we can stipulate this? 3. Got any pics of the storage area?
PigFish Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 I seem to be always in a state of no more space. I too use Rob's locker and I am unofficially renaming it the Gulag! I think the idea is great and I trust Rob and Lisa completely with my cigars.
sinnyc Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Heya Andy, I also voted no but will add the qualifier "yet" as I intend to avail myself of it once my Avallo fills up - likely sometime this fall. - Tim
BobLobLaw Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Just registered about a month ago so exactly 3 boxes. Love the idea, no space at home, keeps me out of stuff I want to age, and insured. Perfect. I plan to put pretty much everything I buy in there for a while. Probably going to do a lot of 10 count boxes (PSD4, Monte #2, Sig VI, PSP2, Cohiba Maduros, Lusi, etc ) when there are sales and then full boxes of the stuff I really want to age (Cohiba Lanceros, Robustos, Esplendidos, and LEs) Thinking I will top out at 15-20 boxes over the next 3-4 years.
OZCUBAN Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Hi All. At the moment I'am one of those who currently does not use this service, which by the way i think is an excellent service, for me its just the simple matter of getting it of the ground, (i.e making enough purchases at once, whilst staying out of the Divorce courts .) But all jokes a side this is something that i will taking advantage as THIS SICKNESS DEVELOPS . It is a useful tool for managing your Collection especially when aging, and the fact that it is insured & It is a free service to members make this for me a no brainer, now if could just get started Cheers Oz cuban
IceChant Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 I'm using it, thanks Czar for the great service. :-)
Professor Twain Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 I'm in the Over 20 group. It is a great place to put sale items, PLUS an ideal situation for long term storage. I have two boxes of 06 Sig IIs that I have vowed not to touch until 2011. My only gripe is that Lisa promised me a picture of my cigars, held by her, while in a bikini, and she has not come through yet! Come on Lisa, do your job!
smk819 Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 I only have 4 boxes in the On Line Humidor. I will be taking them out in June and probably not use it again. I need instant gratification.
Shelby07 Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 We need to have the ability to update our entry - the number just keeps going up.
swl Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 This is a great service offered by Rob. Traditionally offered by the most famous tobacconists in Geneva, London, Hong Kong, etc. So it is only befitting that someone with Rob's reputation for service, offers it too. But I don't know what you are talking about an online locker and that's the story I'm sticking to my wife.
