kqueen Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 I too have been hit by the strength of the Opus - Embarrassing story actually. I decided to make it a lunch cigar at Casa Fuente in Vegas - small light lunch around 12:30 PM. Then lit it up with a mojito from the lovely waitress at Casa. I was about 3/4 done when I realized I was getting sick. Went upstairs in the casino to the restroom and puked. Then laid down on a bench in the hotel shops and passed out for like an hour. I was awakened by a security guard. Then had to go downstairs to pay my bill and finish my mojito - very embarrassing. Haven't had one since.
Van55 Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 I missed this when it was posted back in September. I've personally never gotten nauseous from smoking a cigar. I have gotten light headed -- mostly in a pleasant way. I guess that's one of the reasons why we smoke. I've heard that a little sugar will cure the problem, but as I said, it's not one I have personally experienced.
Miami101 Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 I been there myself......I alway try to have a full meal before a strong Cigar...maybe some black beans, Pork, etc...... This is why it is a custom to smoke Cigars on the porch after dinner...
shrink Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 I agree completely with Van in the following respects: I love strong cigars... the stronger the better. I've never gotten even the least bit nauseous from smoking... but if I had, I sure as hell would never admit it.
SethG Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Wow, I thought I was the only one with that problem, I've done the same with 3 Opus X's. They have a ridiculous amount of nicotine. If you really like opus. Switch to the forbiddens as they seem to not have this problem
Don Candido Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Patrick, Everyone here seems to have missed the issue. Smoke better quality smokes! Cheers, DC
