Monti No. 2 band

I have just gotten a box of No. 2's from a secure vendor. But I see that Monti's have changed to an embossed band. This box is marked 08, but no embossing.

Any thoughts?

Well..... since they started to use the embossed band in '06, I'd think this might be a bit of a concern.

Unless they've changed bands again, and didn't tell us.....

Cuba is pretty notorious for packaging inconsistencies. As long as your source is good, and they taste right, I wouldn't worry much about it.

I just picked up a couple of boxes (both 08's) in Cuba a few weeks ago and both of them do not have the embossed bands. Also, I smoked a single stick from a different box out there, it also had a non-embossed band.

Is there a way that you can post a photo of the Box and the Band? Did you receive the 2008 Box of Montecristo No.2's from a Trusted Vendor? How do the cigars smoke?

It is difficult at best to determine if a Band is genuine or not from a written description. Help us help you please.

I have a box of No. 4s from a trusted source, NOV 07 that have the 03-06 un-embossed bands as shown here: http://cubancigarwebsite.com/

They are Montis, I do not think I doubt the taste.

Ok so now you got me wondering, just checked my box of No. 2s, SEP 07. They also have the unembossed 06 bands. Again not too worried as the taste on this particualr box has been excellent thus far.

I agree. I have a box of #2, a box of #4, and a box of #5 all from 2007 but from different trusted sources and they are all un-embossed.

Just a question. I do not worry if they are genuine as the source is solid. Just was wondering if many members had yet seen the "new" style band.

Let me check my stocks tomorrow when I get into the humidor :-)

Checked a selection of 07 and 08. No embossing, smooth as a babies bottom. Punch Joe may be able to add some more detail when he gets around to it.

I seem to recall that when these new bands first appeared on the 2006 Petit Edmundo, that there were major problems with the embossing matching with the printing (registration). Perhaps they could not solve the problem?.
