El Presidente Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 We all have cigars spread out over numerous years, marques and vitolas. We have those we enjoy, those we hope beyond hope that they will improve, and then we hold those gems that we know currently are or will become classics/legends 6/6 smokerings or 95+/100 works of Habanos art. In your heart of hearts list what you have in that final category. To make your personal list you can have no doubt. If possible list box code or at least year. The list will invariably be small so if not a classic now, estimate how much more time they need to become one. Remember....current and future classics only. Cigars which are (or you are certain will become) the epitome of Habanos greatness.
El Presidente Posted August 7, 2008 Author Posted August 7, 2008 I will drip feed a few over the next couple of days. Cohiba Siglo VI Aug 03 .........classic now.
aavkk Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 » I will drip feed a few over the next couple of days. » » Cohiba Siglo VI Aug 03 .........classic now. Well, you read my mind with that one. It is by far tops in my collection and I am holding on to them dearly. The only other smoke I can add to that with my limited experience is the POS Sep 06 box of Estupendos. I look forward to hearing others thoughts. I predict the 06 Cohiba Piramides will make the cut and Im waiting on a few in the mail.

You guys have very decent lists, but what makes you think they're going to improve, other than just a hunch? Is there something specific within smoking a cigar that makes you say, "ahh, it's got it. This one is going to age well."?

There are obviously many other examples, but what I thought of, which was bolstered by a recent purchase of these from Czar which were much the same: Cohiba Piramides, EL 2001. These are excellent smokes! IMNSHO... Love, DC
Don Candido Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 » Cohiba Piramides, EL 2001. These are excellent smokes! IMNSHO... » » Love, » DC In addition, I also thought of the following: Maybe Cuaba Distinguido Jar Cigars from 2000 approx - (millenium smokes) Maybe Cohiba 35th Anniv. Humidor smokes - any of them. Maybe Hoyo de Monterey 2004? Humidor with 50 Gran Piramides and 50 Salomones. The blend in this humidor is very, very tasty! Maybe the Partagas 160th Humidor (I have not tried the 150th). The 160th are young, but very enticing! Love, DC

Depth of flavour Real signs of underlying complexity Viscosity/ weight on the palate (thickness/richness/density of smoke and flavour). A little mongrel through a touch of tannin
