asc Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Thanks for the review of the potentially soon to be discontinued line! How long was the smoking time approx for this size?
anacostiakat Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Thanks for the review! This is a cigar I like for the cost ratio. I had a box of '05s that were really quite good. Very mottled wrapper. I like to keep them on hand and will have to search for a replacement once they are gone. :-(
Jokermann Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 » Thanks for the review of the potentially soon to be discontinued line! » » How long was the smoking time approx for this size? I am currently work through a box of 07s. I enjoy them for a "golf cigar" or something like that. Rob is right, not much complexity at all, but still a wonderful little smoke. They usually burn about 1 hour 15 min for me, when I take my time with it.
Evo03 Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Anyone know how these compare to the PC Especiales? Thanks
mkz Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Thanx for the review... I smoked a Super P. from 2003 yesterday and your review was spot on. Plain Partagas-taste but no complexity whatsoever. Mine also tasted alot like old leather and the smoke was very dry. Plain smoke. No surprises.
El Presidente Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 Partagas Super Partagas UCT MAY 07 Nice oily wrapper and a scent of danger at cold. Sweet tobacco on the nose with a tad of pepper. Construction was good, just maybe a touch underfilled but I am picking at straws….excuse the pun. Serrated the cap and the draw was spot on. Remnant flavour on the lips and tongue is that of young sweet fresh tobacco. Super Partagas took quickly to flame. I love a cigar which goes into stride immediately. Sweet rich tobacco in a medium bodied format. There is no wondering that this is anything other than Partagas. The sweet tobacco has a cheesecake (unsweetened) mid palate which go perfectly together. Very much enjoying this cigar but complex it is not. It started the same and now by the half way mark it has remained near identical in flavour profile. It would be doing it a disservice to say that it is a straightforward cigar. It is more than that given it hit its sweet spot early and has maintained it throughout. The final third is much as the first two. Medium bodied with great tobacco and cheesecake taste. I would certainly smoke more of them when fishing but By the mid point I was yearning for a little complexity…a little change. The Partagas Super Partagas is not designed to deliver such complexity marvels. It does what it was designed to do and that is to be a good, flavoursome inexpensive Partagas cigar. 86/100
Bartolomeo Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Anybody else have some of these lately? How are they? How do they compare to the Partagas Coronas? Thanks, Bart
ksblazer Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Anybody else have some of these lately? How are they? How do they compare to the Partagas Coronas? Thanks, Bart Bart: I have some Super Partagas from 1999 that are nice smokes. As mentioned these aren't the most complex cigar you will have ever tried but they do have that classic Partaga flavor that I enjoy. I know you ask how they compare to the Partagas Coronas. I can't say as I havent smoked one in a few years but if you are looking for another good Partaga I would highly recomend the 2009 Partagas Petit Coronas Especials. One of the best value cigars out there for the $$ IMO.

Good call, I just compared the Super Partagas and the Petit Coronas Especiales, I like how the Petit is a little bigger ring gauge and both boxes around the $100 level, both could be a good value for the Partagas flavor if your looking for nothing fancy Thanks bro! Bartolomeo Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Didnt realize both were machine made smokes, I may hold off now....... Bart
MontrealRon Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Didnt realize both were machine made smokes, I may hold off now.......Bart These are both long-filler hand made cigars, though they were machine made before 2002. Check out the new "Cheap & cheerful" forum for more discussion of these "second tier" cigars.
Cubanface Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Never had the Super Partagas. Sounds like a flavorful cheap smoke though. Thanks for the review.
SpeedyGonzales Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Super P is a very enjoyable cigar if you can deal with it´s straight forward, non-complex character. For it´s price, I prefer it over the Partagas Mille Fleurs, Aristocrats or Petit Corona Especiales – but that´s just my 2 cents… I don´t think it is comparable with the Partagas Corona, as this is a much more complex experience, just another league… Greets, Speedy

More like eggs & chlorine These do burn really fast, it's best to increase the humidity in your humidor and let them rest for a few weeks to slow the burn. The quality on each each varies, so it's a hit or miss. You are too generous on the score, I would give this a passable grade of 68.
