Great work by all involved!

Being privvy to Cuban machismo (through wifey's personal experience) whilst in Cuba, it is great that these young ladies have a chance to hang out together and simply be teenagers. It is something they desperately need. Bravo to all!

Assuming Yaima is the one in the white top in that first picture, she is one of the most gorgeous women that I have ever laid eyes on. I don't think that I will be able to keep up with the bids on the humidor for very long but I would love to help in some other way!

Yep...thats Yaima.

She is a sweetheart but also focused and as tough as they come.

There will be other ways to help out guys. We are just starting :-)

For those that have not seen Al's humidor, select the Humidor Tutorial section of the forum and have a read and a look. It is a piece of art. I will take some high res photo's next week.

Let me start by thanking Alain. A magnificent contribution mate

We will be conducting an on forum auction of the humidor during the last two weeks of August (15th to 6pm the 30th). I am thinking I will make it a semi blind auction where bids are e-mailed to me direct and I will post on the forum daily what the highest bid is....but I will not post the name of the bidder. Once I announce the winning bid amount on the 30th then the winner can make the decision to go public or not.

I caught up with the lovely Yaima in Havana for lunch last week. The Cubanita Surf team has about 12 senior female members but what caught my interest back in February was their program to support Junior girls into surfing and to give them an opportunity to focus on a healthy, outdoor, lifestyle which tests both their mind and body. It is a sport where young girls from the age of 12 can leave behind the turmoil of daily Cuban life (it is not easy being female in Cuba) and focus on something completely different, something positive and something that they can take with them throughout their life.

Today Yaima and her senior team teach and support close to 40 young girls. They share sufboards of all shapes and sizes. I think they have 12 surfboards in total.

The proceeds of this auction will go to purchase second hand surfboards in Panama which will be brought by hand to Havana and Yaima's team. The logistics have been worked through.

The intent is to eventually over the next 12 months for FOH to supply 20 - 30 surfboards and we will continue to do it annually.

I know that it is easy to get caught up in the glamoros side of the project ...sand, waves, beautiful women etc. However, for those who have daughters, picture them growing up in Cuba and think to yourself how this program would assist them in those formative teen years.

I will have some more on this in the following weeks.

There really are waves in Cuba
