I haven't had one, but the consensus I got was that it was one of the best ELs to have come out. I'm eagerly awaiting to try both the Upmann and HdM new releases.

You can differentiate the original ELs with these since these have a second band that says "Epicure Especial" and "Magnum 50" for the Upmann.

I have put it of long enough... so let it begin Construction: looks really good, I hurt the foot while caring it, wrapper is light chocolate colored, nice. I found a small hole in it... not a beetle hole, its a damage in the wrapper Smell: Sweet, a bit of chocolate some coffee and earth, like a good hoyo, so far so good First third Huge amount of smoke, its very sweet in the beginning, a bit like sweet chocolate pudding. Its really light, and I would say on the lower end of medium body or even a light body. The draw is to light, there is basic no draw at all. I would guess that if you pore some chocolate into a role made out of paper tissues, then you would have this one... There are some spice, not much but a small hint, otherwise nothing... I brought a coupe of coffee with me, but that was to strong, it took over everything. Tee dont work with cigars, so after trying some different stuff I ended up with a Carpe Diem Kombucha. You dont need the drink due to the cigar, it was basically because it was to warm... (at first...) Second third Burn Burn and burn issues, I touch up the cigar all the time, and when you have a nice burn, a part of the cigar runs away.... Its really hard work, and if you stop smoking for 2 min, it goes down, it never went out but it was close... I do get some chocolate and nuttiness, but its very faint, the smell from the cigar is good, nothing to complain about there, but the taste is just not there. When I get pass the "hole" the draw gets a bit better, its really loose so the whole where not through the binder. More chocolate start coming, a bit earth and nuts. When you make a puff it gives quite a large amount of smoke but it goes down really fast. Last third the burn issues are just there, sitting and touching it up all the time. Make sure you have a lot of gas in your lighter. I get not any complexity out from it, very very mild, and a very loose draw, have the roller even cared when he/she made this one, to much mojito the day before? The cigar also start given bad taste in the mouth, it start getting harsh. I start drinking the kombucha to get rid of the taste... this is really a piece of #####. One of the major taste is chlorine... and fluorine If I wouldn't have committed to do this review I would never ever have smoked this one to the end... So guys, I am taking one for the team now Sum up no taste, burn problems, gives you nothing until the end when you get some really nice chlorine and fluorine tones. Conclusion I would rather smoke a white owl who had been infused by water from a swimming pool where a hole school of elementary kids have been "swimming" the whole day... box code, I did write it up... cant find the note, but who cares.. rating.. well.. I have no idea, but lower then a white owl cigar... its bad just bad /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// I just got some HdM Epicure Especial, pictures below. Dont have time today, but tomorrow I will smoke one and give an review. Short, wrapper is a nice milk chocolate colored, smooth tobacco, more or less perfect. Feels not to tight packed, nor to loose. Smell is quite sweet, bit chocolate and cedar tones. More tomorrow. cheers

But then again, wasn't the first batch of Montecristo Edmundo considered to be bad upon release only to have turned into a good cigar?
