greenpimp Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 One word. Retarded. Bad idea, poorly executed. Looks like some Italian design company from the 80's doing a Virginia Slims ad campaign. Oy gevult.
josie67 Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Bleh, I don't like the look, the name, and I CERTAINLY don't want a milder blend.
Miami101 Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 We want stronger cigars.............................
Professor Twain Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Horrible idea. I thought it sounded like a new condom brand.
El Presidente Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 I am in Havana in a couple of weeks and I will have the opportunity to voice an opinion at this proposal detailed for discussion last week at the Habanos marketing meeting. Personally I don't like it for the reasons that it confuses and cheapens the brand. I don't like the packaging and I don't like the name which sounds like something designed by British American Tobacco. I believe a line extension of this magnitude and change will cannibalize sales from Montecristo rather than create sales. I don't believe Montecristo needs a new "lighter blend". The marketing spiel looks like gobly **** to me. They have cliches coming out of thier arse. You are the guys who spend your hard earned cash on cigars. Ignore my thoughts and tell me what you think; good, bad or indifferent and I will present a summary in my discussions based on this thread. ****Remember this is a CONCEPT presented to the worlds distributors for their OPINION. It may or may not see the light of day. **** Please do not copy this to other forums as I was requested to have it discussed among FOH members before my trip to Havana in 2 weeks. MONTECRISTO SPORT PROPOSAL 1.- Nueva gama que amplíe el abanico de consumidores y renueve y rejuvenezca la imagen de marca sin “atentar” contra su consumidor tradicional. A new line created in order to broaden the range of consumers, to renew and rejuvenate the brand image trying not to have a negative effect on traditional consumers. 2.- Buscando la complicidad de deportes que implican ¨estilos de vida¨. Searching for complicity in sports which point out to life styles 3.- Con Lanzamientos representativos de vitolas de tendencias. Representative launchings with trendy sizes 4.- Creando códigos de comunicación nuevos pero en conexión con la tradición de la marca. By creating new communications codes but connected with the tradition. 5.- Aportando una ligada más suave - sabor medio - en línea con los valores de la serie. Providing a milder blend –medium flavoured- in keeping with the features of this line Vitolario Montecristo Mónaco (54 x 150) Montecristo Máster (50 x 124) Montecristo Albatros (46 x 135) Montecristo Swing (38 x 110)
