cmcqueeny Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 Greetings to everyone on FOH! Although currently writing from exile at my home in Kansas, I live most of the year in Boston, where I attend the Greek Orthodox seminary. If there are any Bostonians lurking here, it's Holy Cross in Brookline, probably not the Holy Cross you know. One of the most annoying things about the school is the large number of cigarette smokers -- that vile habit is very popular in the Greek community, especially among the more recent immigrants. One of my closest friends recently picked it up for reasons that still mystify me. So, of course, I tried to combat it by proving to him that a fine cigar, smoked in the proper relaxed manner, can give far more pleasure. As a result, my limited cigar habit has stepped up quite a bit recently. Thankfully I have some experience to draw on. When I was growing up my father always exposed us to the finer things in life, especially wine, single malt whisky, and of course cigars. Most of what he smoked were Dominicans, etc., but whenever we went outside the US one of the suitcases tended to come back with mysterious extra boxes here and there. So, I grew up appreciating good tobacco, and gained some small knowledge, although nothing close (I'm sure) to the average person here. I've been smoking cigars for a few years now, but as I mentioned above, they've started to become more of a habit and hobby in recent months. Given my memories of my father's Cubans, it seems like the time to go beyond what I can find in the stores here, although I doubt I'll stop liking a good VSG or Opus X any time soon. I knew that most of what one finds online is likely fake, and hence searched for a credible source, both of information and of cigars. That search brought me to FOH. I think I'll really enjoy my time here, and I look forward to getting to know you all. Sorry for my rambling! -Chris McQueeny PS: I lost an earlier version of this post due to Internet issues on my end. My apologies if it somehow ends up being a delayed double post.

cmcqueeny Posted June 6, 2008 Author Posted June 6, 2008 » Born & raised just north of Bean Town. Where, out of curiosity? I spend a lot of time in Lawrence and environs, and a friend of mine used to live in Ashburnham, although thankfully he's moved closer to the city now, easing my gas bill considerably.
El Presidente Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 Welcome Chris Remind me next week to tell the story of Father Michael....a young catholic priest who came to lunch at my house on my invitation and left the priesthood two weeks later. I have been banned from clergy attending my house for social functions
