zuma Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008   Bloody terrific Alain! Awesome work... I do envy and applaud your talent and skill... Cheers! and thanks for sharing the journey...
Gryphon Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Truely Magnificient! A remarkable piece of work. Thank you for the facinating journey from start to finish.
Guest Warren Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Just a beautiful Job Al . I hope the winner can appreciate the effort you put into this piece of art. I know how hard it was for a perfectionist like you to let go of it and find a point where you were happy to put your name to it. So when the time comes guys , bid and bid high. Remember the proceeds will go to putting bikinis on the needy frames of Cuban girls.:-D I was glad to be a part of this process all be it a tiny , tiny part. Actually feel free to rub my name off if it offends you.:-D
Ginseng Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Absolutely gorgeous! I'm already envious of the eventual winner. Great work, Al. Wilkey
jb007 Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 God-damn... Awesome humidor! I need a new one but unfortunately I don't have at least $800 to spend on one... One day though... =D
JMH Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Looks great. It has been very interesting getting to watch it take shape over the last couple of months. Thanks for going to the effort of posting it all.
Dr.G Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Hi Alain, What an accomplishment! Just beautiful! I'm almost sad the humidor chronicle is over (bet you're not!) - it's been great seeing you at work and the 'baby' grow. Thanks heaps for sharing! Cheers, George
dblones Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 » what a beauty!!!;-) Truly great work. I can appreciate all the work that went into it as I took both wood working and metal working in school. I found that my wood working skills are severly lacking. Its an utter shame. I am truly envious of someoeone that can create such an outstanding piece. Thank you for the tutorial it was an awsome piece to read. You made it sound much simpler than I know it was. Again outstanding work. Anyone will be proud to own such a geat work of art.
El Presidente Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Al this "Humidor Tutorial" series goes down as one of the most indepth pieces of work in the Cigar community. Great effort, great work and a lasting testament

semery74 Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 SmokinAl, I'm a woodworker myself and I wonder if you would compare some of the wood prices in Australia? Over here in the US raw lumber is sold by a volume measure called the Board/Ft. (1 X 12 X 12 inches)measurement. Over here these are: Spanish Cedar $4USD bd/ft Rosewoods (Any type you like) $10-50 bd/ft Ebony (Maccassar or Gabon) $40-50 bd/ft
demiurgic Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Gorgeous and one that looks it will last a lifetime or 3. What a beauty.
SmokinAl Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 G’day folks, It’s been a while since I stuck my hand up about the Hang Ten Humidor and I apologise for the delay. I’ve been a little tied up with some other humidors, the job, the impending wedding, getting psst at Czar or on Ken’s balcony...You know how it is...priorities... I’ll be delivering this over to Rob in the next few days for him to kick off the auction. To give you all an indication of what to expect, the material cost was a little over $800.00: Spanish Cedar: $160.00 Paduak Edging and Base: $200.00 Mahogany Drawer: $50.00 Veneers: $200.00 Hinges and Hinge Template: $220.00 I wish you all the very best of luck and I hope the winner gets as much pleasure from The Hang Ten Humidor as I did in building it for them. Cheers, Al
