trumpetchris Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Smoked this last night to celebrate my birthday. Construction: A beautiful behemoth. Looks great, smells great. Cut with my Palio, lit with Xikar. 1/3: Opens with a familiar grassy flavor, nice amount of smoke. For the first portion of the cigar the flavor is very consistent, with no real development of flavor. 2/3: A bready flavor enters, with some slight sweetness. This is still in conjunction with the grassiness of before, but adds a very nice change of flavor. The body at this point would be medium at best. 3/3: The bready flavor grows stronger, eliminating the grassy elements from earlier. Some stronger tobacco flavors enter now, giving this some oomph that was lacking before. Still medium in body. The finish is totally fresh baked bread. Overall: Enjoyable. The other siglo VI examples I've sampled before were older, although not by too much. However, I know that at two years, these have less grassiness, more bready sweetness and more core tobacco flavors. I was also a little underwhelmed at the smoke volume of this particular example. Other VI's I've had were like smoke machines, producing really thick smoke in heavy quantities. The draw was great, so I can't blame construction. It was just an interesting difference from other Siglo VI's I've enjoyed before. I'd give this an 85/100. Solid "B"- I think these will be better soon. Time to smoke something cheaper till they get there.
BobLobLaw Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Great review and Happy birthday. Of the few cigars I was able to smoke this spring the Siglo was my fav.

Leftridge Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 When you first get them in or before you are going to smoke them? I haven't done that and I'm wondering it this might have occured with my Siglo VI review.. » Can I make the suggestion to really dry box young cigars (07/06) Talking » 2-3 days at Sub 60 RH.
SmokinAl Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Happy Birthday mate, another day older, another year wiser? Gracias for the review. I agree with you about the potential for some age on these. I just don't seem to have the will-power to let them lay.
