First, I'd like to apologize for not having pictures. I smoked it on the deck at the golf course. It was about 72 degrees and not much of a breeze. The cigar was from a five pack of tubos that I purchased last year, so I don't have box dates or codes.

Construction was beautiful. A perfect medium Colorado color. The cigar had some veins but was pretty like a patch work quilt. I clipped the cap and tested the draw. Nice cold tobacco flavors and a flawless draw.

First third was filled with the trademark Cohiba grassiness. I noticed some almond and nutmeg notes as well. None of the honey flavors others have mentioned. There were some hints of spice (not quite full on pepper). As the first third continued, I noticed glimmers of power that would develop later in the cigar.

As the second third developed, the grassiness started to subside. I also noted that the burn became uneven but I cannot attribute the unevenness to the outside conditions. There wasn't enough of a breeze to make a huge difference in the burn. As the grassiness/herbal flavors subsided, a nice flavor of coffee/cream developed with some hints of mocha. This was almost like a Cafe Mocha without the sugary sweetness. There were also some hints of tannin as well.

The final third continued with no grassiness. The coffee and cream notes were most prominent with just a touch of mocha and a hint of nutmeg & almond. The tannins also developed more and became a little bitter. I also had to touch up the burn in the final third.

I did not nub the cigar because it became a little too bitter at the end. I think this cigar will improve greatly with age and was very impressed with the cafe mocha flavors which should continue to develop. The main drawback with this cigar was the uneven burn.

I would rate this a 90 today. I think this is a very ageworthy cigar and would expect improvement over time. I would have rated it a few points higher potentially except for the burn problem and the bitterness.

Excellent review of a young Cohiba VI :ok:

If you do have some remaining put them away for a few years. Lets see if the finnishing bitterness can be rid of and the mocha/cream accentuated.

terrific stuff. having just posted my own review of a young sig vi, fascinating to see the ifferences and similarities. key is that touch of bitterness, though yours seemed to be even more prevalent than mine. lot of similarities with the flavours though some different descriptors. main differences were that i saw no grassiness at all in mine and the burn on mine was absolutely immaculate. guess that is just the luck of the draw, so to speak.
