anacostiakat Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 EKA JUL01. Nice milk choco colored SIG V. Firm roll. I checked the foot to see if it might be plugged as I did run into one so far. Pairing of Willetts 94 proof bourbon. Cut evenly and lighted up nicely. Cold draw of tobac. A little tight draw but no too bad. Immediate flavor of some vanilla and nutmeg. Medium dark gray ash. Ample amount of smoke for the draw. First half inch produces more nutmeg than anything else. Very alluring. What will this lead to? I scold myself for wondering if this will lead to more vanilla bean and cocoa. A mixture or more of the nutmeg? Now dont misunderstand! I like nutmeg. :-) Spicey nose! I begin smaller sips to see how the draw will be. How it will open up a little more. The finish is long on this Siglo. A full inch into this Dahlia and the nutmeg is now sharing it's bed with cocoa. Merging into the beginnings of a steamy romance. The cocoa mutes the nutmeg. Smoothing it out and providing body. I have to say that after a full third there is no, like Foghorn LegHorn, I say son, I say, there is no grassiness. Some vanilla bean showing up on the finish. A beautiful mixture. I feel it necessary to mention that this fillie is medium with a luscious mouthfeel. The second third of this cigar really doesnt change. Not a bad thing in and of itself but it deminishes my expectations. LOL At least a little. ;-) Last third elicits much more vanilla bean. Very smooth. I find it mentionable that while the cigar warmed up the draw stayed the same. A little tighter than I like. Just a little more effort as I am lazy and do not like to work. Just as I type that the draw opens up. Whatever was causing it burned through. Ramped up a little bit toward the end but otherwise a solid hour and a half (I am a pretty slow smoker) of enjoyment. Because of the draw I would give this one about a 93/100. Otherwise I would have added a point or two at least. I have had one plugged out of this box so far but I am very happy with it. This is the only one that has had a tighter draw than I like. I dont expect a ton of body from the SIG line and I do not believe it was developed for that. But it had enough along with the flavors to hold my attention. All in all very enjoyable.
SmokinAl Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Brilliant review of a brilliant cigar and anyone who can introduce Foghorn Leghorn into the review of a Cuban Cigar is OK in my book! . . . . .
shrink Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Ah say, son, ah say... this is a Dahlia: and this is a Dalia:

Although nice, I didnt find it rocketing to the top of my list. I would drink it again though. :-P
El Presidente Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 » nutmeg is now sharing it's » bed with cocoa. Merging into the beginnings of a steamy romance. I have seen the movie....little complexity but explores some compelling interracial themes with penetrating performances from the leads. Aged Siglo V is such a smooth cigar. Some of the smoothest most delicate cigars are 01 V's.
