soltino Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 » This is a bull at a gate...Ken at a buffet...Jackie Chan in full flight. :-D Great set of reviews so far El Pres et al :-) Being fairly new to the pleasures of cigars I have put off sampling Cuaba, mainly due to the less than complementary comments on the Czar's site, but not anymore!

Be carefull grasshopper. If you are looking at a box of Cuaba's (or Singles) in your correspondence with Lisa please ask for me to select them. There are some construction issues with Divinos which are sometimes hard to identify.

xibbumbero Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 A spot on review of the Divio. Too bad they're not a bigger cigar w/that same intensity. X
Ginseng Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 » Cuaba Divinos EMA Jun 07 » no nuances, no manners..all black coal, tobacco and unsweetened licorice. Well done review! These are the flavor notes that I ascribe to a bitter wood character that I've found unique to the Divinos. A fun little stick that I'm thankful is not larger as I honestly don't think I'd be man enough to handle it. :-D Wilkey
El Presidente Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 Cuaba Divinos EMA Jun 07 I smoked this Cuaba Divino after the abysmal Cuaba Tradicional Nov 06. Seriously....if I was a cigar being reviewed I would love to come on after the Cuaba Tradicional.....you would only need to show a semblance of flavour and poise and you would look like a supermodel. Well construction of this little beauty looked great. Sexy little wrapper with good oil to the touch. It is yet a babe in the woods and aroma at cold is all chicken coup. Clipped the cap and the draw is sublime. Pure tobacco on the tongue with a touch of menace. Fired up the foot and !KABOOM! Full throttle in your face kick arse power and white pepper. This is a bull at a gate...Ken at a buffet...Jackie Chan in full flight. The flavour profile is unrefined and robust. There are no nuances, no manners..all black coal, tobacco and unsweetened licorice. By the time I reach the lip of the bulb it has settled down to medium full but the flavours are no more refined. I love this cigar as it does not pretend to be anything it is not. It leaves complexity to others and sets out only to deliver strength and intensity in a one night stand that it intends for you to remember. Past the bulb now, into the second third and it maintains the rage. Aroma is pungeant, burn a little awry but needs no touch up. There is an unconvincing attempt at some dark German pumpernickel bread but the pure tobacco and coal push it to the sidelines. I am loving this cigar and it delivers exactly what I need after the previous Tradicional disappointment....a reminder of what great pure mongrel tobacco should be like. Right to the very end it maintains its intensity. In the cigar world it is equivalent to the type of guy you don't want your daughter to date. It is a little one dimensional (very young), menacing and with only one thing on its mind....pure evil. Love it 91/100
