» Where does one get these "boots"?

to be honest, no idea. my sister boguht them for me years ago (doubt she'd even remember and i suspect it was while she was in london) when i was heading off to nepal and parts thereabouts. i don't think i've ever seen them anywhere else. i love 'em. and to be fair, they do double as fantastic winter slippers but can be worn outdoors as well.

rob, i think that your unwarranted intrusion into ken's privacy is disgraceful and i am 100% behind him on this. i think you should give him 10 hamlets in penance!

Rob, could you please make sure someone takes a pic of yourself sitting on Ken's couch once it gets there? :-D

There are times when given the choice between going home to the missus and spending the night with the Pythons down by the creek , I would gladly choose the latter.

At least they would give me a warm reception.:lookaround:

Brothers , last night was one such night.:-(

Yet Smithy, the photos speak a thousand words and proof positive of the true essence of your lifestyle. Sad, truly sad ...............

many thanks to all those who offered support in these trying times. rob, i can only agree re the ten hamlets though they will only go a small way to absolving the hurt you have caused.

Rob, I'm horrified at Ken's abuse of moderator priveleges. His abuse of power is disgraceful and I think he should be made to send 10 SLR DCs to each person he edited.

oh, how it hurts that anyone could possibly think i had anything whatsoever to do with this (though if i had, surely any fairminded person would think the appalling intrusion into my innocent privacy to be justification, nay provocation, in the extreme).

personally, i suspect russian spammers.

Even though justified, unfortunately this one instance your extreme fear of upper case letters have given you up as the culprit who made the edits. :-P

To be honest, and without seeing them I dont really know. But if its something that mountaineers uses it could be what we call Booties. Most common they are used around BC (if its cold, I only use them inside the tent) or when in the higher camps and your are freezing in your -50 C sleeping bag.... Personal, I like the once from 40 below,

http://www.40below.com/product_detail_publ...p?ProductID=377

I did think that PHD Design (http://www.phdesigns.co.uk/) had them but it looks like they dont, best down clothes out there, but they can probably make a pair.

cheers

no, they are much more elaborate and serious than these though the base is a little similar. i wear these things without anything else when cold so i guess in that respect they are a bit like slippers.

Oh God no Ken , I wish you hadn't said that. Now I have to go get seriously drunk to try to erase the image that this suggests.

In light of this ,Rob I suggest you phone before you drop around.:surprised:

At the invitation of Ken I, PJ and Greg arrived at Kens for a tasting of "Ayala" Champagnes. Good drops without being spectacular.

This use to be a great house.....before Ken moved in.... and Forum members have been rightfully concerned at the state of delinquency the premises have fallen into. Kens style of interior decorating can best be described as "internal homeless"

Yet the man appears deliriously happy. I just wish that my camera had not run out of batteries....but the following puts it in perspective :-|

Arrived at 5pm to see kens car in the driveway.

image6226.jpg

Ken is a man prepared. Note the permanent blanket in the back seat of the car ;-)

image6227.jpg

The courtyard was once a highlight. It now looks like the day after Armageddon.

image6228.jpg

Yes....Ken is a green thumb....these are weeds growing from his gutters...:lookaround:

image6229.jpg

My flash was not working due to low battery or simply depression. I only wish I could show you the slippers Ken was wearing for this celubrious tasting. The house was remarkably tidy.

image6230.jpg

Cleanliness is next to Godliness ;-)

image6231.jpg

image6232.jpg

image6233.jpg

image6234.jpg

I have no idea how he broke the light

image6235.jpg

The new couch ....has not yet arrived. The New Plasma TV is still in the box....somewhere in the house :-(

image6236.jpg

Ken does have some superb art....on the floor.

image6237.jpg

One of the four Ayala Champagnes tasted.

image6238.jpg

Out door dining setting.

image6239.jpg

image6240.jpg

I brought the food....this is why

image6241.jpg

The resident possum left his house months ago....and has not returned...proof that animals have higher standards :lol2:

image6242.jpg

At this point my Camera gave up. How I would love to have shown you the slippers he was wearing

I love going to Kens for a cigar and a drink. Thanks again mate for a great night :ok:

I have no idea why we have a Cuban charity when the need is so close to home :-D

HE IS AN IMBECILE AND WHY ANYONE WOULD ENCOURAGE HIM IS BEYOND ME.

I KEEP AN OLD RUG IN THE CAR FOR COVERING BOTTLES IF I AM FORCED TO LEAVE THEM THERE FOR ANY TIME AT ALL.

I HAVE BEEN AWAY FOR FIVE WEEKS. THE IMBECILE KNOWS THIS. HE WAS THERE FOR PART OF IT. BUFFING A FEW LEAVES NOT THE HIGHEST PRIORITY ON RETURN.

»

» Yes....Ken is a green thumb....these are weeds growing from his

THE FIVE WEEKS THING. ACTUALLY THEY ARE NOT WEEDS AS SUCH BUT RATHER CHINESE ELMS, OR AT LEAST SOME OF THEM ARE. POTENTIALLY COULD GROW INTO MASSIVE TREES. LADDER ARIVES MONDAY TO ALLOW ME TO GET RID OF THEM. NOT THAT THE IMBECILE WILL EVER BE INVITED BACK TO SEE.

WHAT IMBECILE CALLS SLIPPERS ARE ACTUALLY SOFT, VERY SOFT, BOOTS DESIGNED TO COVER ORDINARY BOOTS/SHOES ETC WHEN CLIMBING IN SNOW ETC (NOT ICE, OBVIOUSLY). WONDERFLLY PROTECTIVE, WARM, INCREDIBLY STRONG (CAN STAND ON GLASS AND IT WON'T GET THROUGH). AND THEY MAKE GREAT SHOES TO SLIP OVER SPCKS WHEN HOME.

»

» image6230.jpg

»

THIS IS PRICELESS. THE IMBECILE ACTUALLY SET THE FIRST PHOTO UP. I WONDERED WHAT HE WA DOING WITH THE DISHES, NOT HELPING, THAT IS CERTAIN. THE OTHER RESULTED FROM THAT THE NIGHT EARLIER OR SO, I HAD HAD SOME FRIENDS OVER (THEY WOULD BE FRIENDS, NOT INTERLOPERS) TILL LATE. THEN I HAD TO BE OUT BY SEVEN NEXT MORNING AS WE WERE TASTING SPANISH WINES ALL DAY AND I ARRIVED HOME TEN MINUTES BEFORE IMBECIL ARRIVED - QUITE WHY HE THOUGHT THAT MY FIRST PRIORITY WOULD BE DOING THE DISHES, ALL DONE NOW BY THE WAY AND THE KITCHEN IS HOSPITAL CLEAN, WOULD BE MY FIRST PRIORITY, RATHER THAN ACTUALLY HIDING MY VALUABLES, IS BEYOND ME.

THE COUCH GETS DELIVERED NEXT WEEK (NOT THAT HE'LL EVER GET TO REST HIS BUM ON IT). THE TV HAD ARRIVED A FEW DAYS BEFORE. THE TABLE FOR IT WAS ARRIVING THE FOLLOWING DAY (NOW HERE) AND IT REALLY DIDN'T SEEM WORTHWHILE PULLING ALL THE TV BITS OUT BEFORE THE TABLE FOR IT TO GO ON WAS IN PLACE. WHY AM I EVEN BOTHERING TO JUSTIFY THIS IS BEYOND ME. NEVER AGAIN.

»

» image6236.jpg

» Ken does have some superb art....on the floor.

AND ON THE WALLS IF TWO CELLS HAD BOTHERED TO POINT HIS PHONE CAMERA (HE IS A PHOTOGRAPHER AT THE TOP OF HIS GAME) IN ANY OTHER DIRECTION. I AM STILL SETTING UP BOOKSHELVES AND HAVE SOME WORK OF TO BE SOLD AN OTHERS TO ARRIVE NOT MUCH POINT STICKING IT UP ON A WALL ONLY TO PULL IT DOWN A FEW MONTHS LATER.

I ACTUALLY HAVE SOME NICE NEW CHAIRS AND A FEW MORE COMING BUT WHY ON EART WOULD I BRING THEM OUT FOR ROB?

»

» image6239.jpg

» HE BINGS MASSIVE HEART ATTACK QUANTITIES OF CHEESE (I AM ASSUMING HIS WIFE WON'T LET HIM EAT IT AT HOME - AND NEXT TIME, HE'L BE HEADING HOME TO JOIN THE WIFE MUCH EARLIER THAN PLANNED IF ANY MORE OF THIS CRAP). VERY KIND. THE SWILL CALLED 'CHUNKY DIP' - NOT SURE IF THAT REFERS TO BEFORE OR AFTER - IS LESS WELCOME.

» image6240.jpg

»

» I brought the food....this is why

THE FRIDGE AND PANTRY ARE BOTH FULL OF FOOD. I HAVE A FEW SHELVES WITH JUICE, WINE, BEER ETC. WHO DOESN'T? AS FOR THE STOVE ETC, I HAVE NOT GOT TAKEAWAY FOOD OR PIZZAS OR WHATEVER SINCE 1990 - IF I AM HOME I COOK. NUCLEAR SHELTERS WISH THEY HAD AS MUCH FOOD AROUND AS I DO (YOU THINK THAT THE STOMACH IS ENTIRELY WINE?, VERY WRONG - IT HAS COSTS ME THOUANDS IN RESTAURANTS ETC).
