tapewormboy Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 Just wondering if anyone has feedback on the LCDH in Taipei? Prices, selection, smoking lounge, service, authenticity, etc? Any FOH members living there now?

Mr. Japan Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Ciao, been tehre twice, very nice (even if not a big place) . It is located in Hotel Agora http://www.agoragdn.com.tw/ . The manager is Alexander Gold, but never there :-), I met jason and beauty Kelly that are delighted to serve a good coffe or alcoholic with cigars. Niceselection with prices quite high IMHO. Another nice smoking place is The Cigar Gallery where Fiona will be delithed to serve agood coffee and cigar.
tapewormboy Posted July 23, 2008 Author Posted July 23, 2008 Thanks for the tips. Can anyone else share their experiences in Taipei, or anywhere in Taiwan? I will be there in 3 days. Cheers, Frank

Prices, » selection, smoking lounge, service, authenticity, etc? » » Any FOH members living there now? Since you've 3 days there, you should check them all out. These are my humble opinions: 1) LCdH - v comfortable place, Kelly is great, owned & operated by PCC so cigars are authetic but prices are not cheap! Because of its price issues, some hard-to-find stuffs are still available. A buddy bought some PSD1 & a Monte Jar a few months ago. 2) La Fumee (2325-6961) - classy place, 2 levels, hangout for local Taiwanese aficionados. Selections are current production. Service is good. If you're into collecting, ask manager for members-for-sale stuffs but you better know how to tell fakies among real....some jems but not cheap! 3) Cigar Gallery - smaller place compares to first two choices. No much selection. Service is good. Just a smoke place. 4) Churchill @Westin - good smoke place, current selection, good service, musicians at night.
Guibou Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 I double what Fatcigar is saying about the LCDH Taipei: price not cheap and vintage cigars available, or rather say discontinued or Special Release are still available. I've been there only once so my experience is limited but I noted that service was just so-so... The walk-in humidor was a real mess with open boxes and cigars left on the tray tables... I purchased about 20 vitolas, especially RA898 that I was surprised to find. Regarding the smoking area, it is small and it was busy so I could not stay to smoke. And this Agora hotel... Bloody hell what a poor choice...
mncz Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Reviving an old one here... I will be in Taiwan for two to three years for graduate study beginning in the Fall. In fact, I will be in Hsinchu, but the entire island is so small, what's it matter? If anyone could give a more current account of the cigar scene (and especially LCDH) in Taiwan, I'd be much obliged. Looking forward to lots of study, great cigars, and a rejuvenated tea obsession.
Hoepssa Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Cigars in Taiwan are expensive, actually we have the cheapest tabacco tax around these nations, but they are REALLY pricey list some with indoor seats + walk in humidor shops... 101 SKYSCRAPPER AREA: There's a new LCDH Taipei open this month, in Hyatt Hotel. Cigar gallery had its renovation last year, same address. Their second store https://www.facebook.com/cigargallery2/ East district which was leading business area from 70's Havana Puros - small, no indoor lounge. Quality & price are very good, mostly current production, tubos are 3-5 years aginghttps://www.yelp.com.tw/biz/哈瓦那雪茄專賣店-大安區 Shongsan airport (TSA airport) area, Taipei urban side Puros - extremely nice selection of cc/nc since 21st centuries, rare REs can be found. Pricey but worths the try if you are connoseur.https://zh-tw.facebook.com/pages/Puros雪茄館/190913070939160
mncz Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 Appreciate the reply, Hoepssa. I finally made my way over to the Hyatt LCDH in Taipei a few weeks ago. Contrary to the description of the old shop, the LCDH I visited was clean and the employees were very accommodating. I was in and out very quickly, as I just wanted to pick up a quick stick for a grab-n-go. Even so, I spent quite a while looking around, and they didn't mind. Left with a HU half corona, quite a pleasant one (first time), the cost was about 15USD. However, there were two employees: one seemed a little less well-versed than the other, more senior worker on duty. The younger one handled one or two boxes until I had said enough that he left me to finger through on my own. Nevertheless, the stock I saw was decent. Didn't even have a peek in the smoking room -- next time I'll stop by for a proper look around, and report on some of the stock I see about. Despite my perception that the shop would benefit from being a little cozier, as it felt a little too contrived, it still seems like a decent place (though I have to say, this being my second Asian LCDH visit, the one in Cambodia was an extremely pleasant visit -- hardly even a comparison). Lastly, any forumers who stay or find themselves in the area, feel free to reach out and we can have a burn.
