yossie Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Please assume you have limited budget. Which do you choose from the followings? 1, Whatever you wanna smoke. So, You have many vitolas. 2,You purchase what you really love for long-term aging. I choose the #1 since I've never experience aged cigars more than 3 years and wanna smoke many cigars for many moods. Thanks guys

First off I smoke on average 3-4 per week so my rate of consumption is such that I can get by with a reduced version of the Tampa method. In other words rather than buying 2-3 boxes at a time I buy 1 and pretty much leave it alone for roughly a year. Then I will try one or two and start smoking or continue to let them rest based on results. Once that box is about half empty if it is a cigar I always want in stock I will go ahead and order another at that point in time. At the rate I smoke that freshly ordered box will likely not get touched until at least 2-3 years. So it really is just consumption based. My favorites (RASS, RASCC, PLPC, Shorts, El Principes, etc.) get smoked at a faster rate so I typically have more than one of those boxes ordered at a time. I do like to try just about everything so usually once a year I place a big singles order from Rob buying 2-3 of each cigar I wish to try. This has led to many an instance of finding something I REALLY enjoy that is off most people's list. I highly recommend trying everything you can.
KB24 Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 My style is to buy when I can. If I have a nice month (I'm in Sales) I will buy a couple boxes. So far I have been buying different boxes to try and see what brands and vitolas I like. I have around 15 boxes now and I have a good idea what I like and don't like. I am just now deciding what boxes or cabs I want of cigars I already have so I can age them. My next purchase will be boxes I have that I want another to age. Probably some Monte 4's and some RASS.
aavkk Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Referrring to the recent post about this topic I am somewhere between Tampa's and n2adventures methodology. Being that I have finally just found a very reputable vendor for leaf from the motherland and am having an aristocrat built I look forward to stocking up. I guess for now I am buying a box and if it blows me away I will then at that point buy more and request if possible the same date and factory code.

Since I am on a limited budget and I am pretty new to Cubans.

I like thin ring guage cigars too. Recently Habanos doesn't like to newly release it though.
happy1 Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 I try and do both to a point and that point is when my wife is calling her lawyer ;-)
greenpimp Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 I unfortunately have no style at all in buying cigars. It's like that old French question. Gourmet ou gourmand? My answer is yes. :-)
jadawin Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 In my current financial situation, i buy to smoke. eventually im hoping to buy boxes to put away for a while, but as a student now i dont have the money or the storage space to do any serious aging.
