If you dry box them for a few weeks you should get them down to 50 ;-)

That reminds me of Are You Being Served? - "This jacket seems a little big, don't you think?"

"Don't worry sir, it will ride up with wear"

So a dry box will shrink its girth. Ain't that the truth.

Very few actually smoke the cigars in these books...these are predominantly investment pieces.

I have a fundamental (personal) opposition to this whole apparition. I will never buy a bottle of wine I do not intend to drink, and will never buy a cigar I do not intend to smoke or share.

This cigars as investment thing is at best a tricky bet. One is much better off investing the money in something else, IMO.

This is Cubas very best leaf and should not sit on a shelf in perpetuity. Nor should it be rolled into 60 rg monsters, but this is all my personal opinion of course.

This statement reflects a value judgment and one that also reflects how I regard cigars. However, the fact of the matter is that special cigars appreciate in value. It may be considered mercenary by some, but there are people who pay for what they smoke via the profits from their buying and selling of items just like these.

Again, I agree. And again, this standpoint flows from my value system regarding Havana cigars. Any product created to provide pleasure only finds fulfillment in the delivery of that pleasure.

Of course, this begs the question: what forms of pleasure were these cigars intended to provide? If it was the pleasure of an appreciating investment, then I believe they are fully capable of fulfilling that purpose.

Perhaps the pleasure of lining the pockets of the producers.......

Cigars are to be SMOKED.

Yes, collected. Yes, shared. Yes, resold for a profit. But in the end SMOKED. That is their essence, their raison d'etre.

Anyway these are beautiful smokes and I bet they taste great and I will get off the old sidecar soapbox here. Apologies.

No need to apologise....I agree.

Then again you are taling to the worst collector in the world. I have a tragic mix of high intentions and low willpower :-)

I still can't believe we sold Ramon Allones Estupendos....box No 1

FWIW, there's just something about these books, and the cigars they contain, that is very appealing. Gorgeous packaging, no doubt. But it's the cigars themselves that are really incredible. Rolled to perfection, and they smoke like a dream. IMHO, they take great care in rolling these cigars, and it shows. The quality is excellent. And I agree, while they make great collectibles, they are meant to be smoked!

It's allways nice to have family over :-D

The one thing to do about collect or not to collect is to buy two of each. One to collect and one to smoke. :-P

» H.UPMANN ESPECIAL 20'S - COLECCION 2007

Question has arisen regarding the actual length of these cigars.

HAS website & box insert says 155 long.

I am told they measure around 167mm long.

Can I get some feedback on this?

Thanks.

It's hard to believe that a simple pill can make a cigar longer...
