I have bought many Partagas short 25 Boxes and all of them have

had a square press to them but about a year ago I bought a Cab 50

from a swiss vendor the box seemed to be real stamps markings Etc.

they were stamped AGL__DIC 06 but were round with no press

They tasted Partagas but rough and young Did I get the pipe in the

shorts or is this typical of the Cab 50s?

Ritchie

P.S. The square Press being slight in the 25s and not present at

all in the cab 50s.

Ritchie, you have not been shafted. I haven't seen any square pressed cigars in 50-cabs and I don't think there are any.:-) Smoke them and you'll know...

Kjell is correct - you are unlikely to see a box press in cabs of 25 or 50. In dress boxes, the cigars

are packed just tight enough that when the box is closed and secured, it actually presses down on

the cigars a bit, creating the "box press"

There are some NC manufacturers who press their cigars intentionally before packaging to give

them this look - some to extremes.

Ritchie,

As others have already mentioned, a Cab of 50 in a SLB (Slide Lid Box) is designed to allow the space needed for the cigars not to be pressed together tightly thereby creating the "Box Press" found in a Dress Box. Unless there is another reason why your Partagás Shorts are suspect, such as barber pole wrappers, taste, or something unusual, then you should be OK. The lack of a Box Press in a Cab is correct when it comes to Habanos.

Ritchie.

Partagas Shorts can be hit and miss. The corect draw plays a huge part. I found too many easy draws in Partagas Shorts in 2006 and those always suffered from a rough and young taste. How was the draw in your 50 cab?

Dear almighty one

You are right on about the draw being lose on the 06s and ruff!! on the

taste and also lighter wrapper compared to the 05s. How are the 07?

The 05s were my favorite coffie break cigar in the past, got any

sugestions for somthing new or did the 07s go back to old school?

I have found the late 06 and 07 Shorts to be back to their best. Construction is back to being what it should (in the main) and the flavour rich in coffee and shortbread.

I second the '07 Shorts being back in form.

Quite wonderful, in fact. ;-)

Both them and the PLPCs hardly need additional aging in their '07 incarnation.
