BigSlick Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 WOW! Thanks Rob for the post. Too much negative propaganda floatin around here as of late with the upcoming election.
Ben Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 Fantastic photo, cover of TIME worthy if it were only on film. I'm a bit rusty on my yank ranks, he is a 1st Sergeant is he not?
smokum Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 The true horror of war. Why would anyone shoot a child. This man shows the human spirit.I would love to shake his hand...
Sandman Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 » The true horror of war. Why would anyone shoot a child. This man shows the » human spirit.I would love to shake his hand... These inhuman phucking bastards would shot a child in the head? Man, this like the Nazis. I can only hope that the bastards that did this will die a truely horrible death, and soon!!!
Cam Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 It is truly worthy of an international magazine.. amazing photograph graphic and touching.
anacostiakat Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 Not just a good story. A great story in my humble opinion!
jwm8592 Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 well done Prez., thanks for sharing this. In the USA we the public never hear of the good/great that goes on in Iraq, do to our servicemen & women being over there. All the liberal media wants to tell us about is how many are dying, and how there are more insurgents now than there were before we went in, and how somehow all these killings are, our fault. Its lunacy to think that these killings wouldn't still be happening whether we're there or not. The killings most likely have always been going on, it just was never reported.
Evo03 Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 That shows the character of the people serving there. There's probably countless more good stories that we never hear about.
GoSteelers Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 Whats really sad is that this picture is over a year old and we have to get the story from a Cigar BB.

brian1 Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 God Bless You John. To think that these animals are doing this in the name of religion is phucking beyond me. Next time you read the New York Times and you read some misguided Liberal journalist mouthing off about how we are no better than these animals. Think of this photo....truth is the Armed Forces show tremendous restraint on a daily basis when this is what you are up against. The sad truth is that in this part of our planet, Life itself means nothing, its cheap, its expendable and horrific acts like we cant even imagine in our worst nightmares are every day occurences. Do you think those phuckers show any mercy to westerners...unfortunate enough to be captured. Well we all know the answer to that. The people that carry out acts like this are vermin and they need to be exterminated on sight. Sorry for the rant..this stuff justs eats away at me..
Wiley Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 Some of you have already mentioned it, but I want to say it again... How can someone be so, what, angry?, that they let everything that makes them a human being be stripped away, and then, as an upright talking animal can look at a child, this ones really just a baby, and then kill it? Can you reform someone who has made the choice to murder children? In my opinion they've forfeited their claim on humanity, and as nothing but dangerous animals they should be put down.
effinwill Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 According to the eggheads over here their value system is just different from ours - not better or worse, just different. While we place a high value on human life and happiness in the temporal world, they place greater value on the after life and have no problem blowing up children, dumping acid on little boys faces, etc.... :-| I admire the frankness the Australians have had in dealing with their diversity issues.
brian1 Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 Indeed and may their Allah grant them a very speedy passage into the afterlife! » While we place a high value on human life and happiness in the temporal world, they place greater value on the after life and have no problem blowing up children, dumping acid on little boys faces, etc.... :-| » »
El Presidente Posted November 9, 2007 Author Posted November 9, 2007 Thanks WOO. She is gorgeous. I just want to take her home and let her play and live with my kids.
Wiley Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 Kurd maybe? The girl in the back looks to be between the front two girls in skin tone.
Miami101 Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 Wow This is a great photo and information. Thank guys once again for doing a great job. As a American Cuban I know how important it is the job you are doing. It is a hard world out there....keep up the good work. Thank you
El Presidente Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 It's a tough, but heart-warming story...with a picture of John Gebhardt in Iraq John Gebhardt's wife, Mindy, said that this little girl's entire family was executed. The insurgents intended to execute the little girl also, and shot her in the head...but they failed to kill her. She was cared for in John's hospital and is healing up, but continues to cry and moan. The nurses said John is the only one who seems to calm her down, so John has spent the last four nights holding her while they both slept in that chair. The girl is coming along with her healing. He is a real Star of the war, and represents what the Western world is trying to do.
The Wise Old owl Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 "In the USA we the public never » hear of the good/great that goes on in Iraq" "The killings most likely have always been going on, it just was » never reported." I think some folks here may like this picture. The little girl with the Spiderman shirt on was always on the corner of a route we traveled nearly every day during the year I spent in Iraq. She is cute as a button and doesn't appear to be "full-blooded" Iraqi. It was told to me by an interpreter that if Saddam should happen to pass and see her, she would have been killed. These children gathered as I said, everyday, to see the American convoys pass, with the hopes we would give them something, Anything. It became ritual to stop and pass out whatever we had, in an unofficial capacity. I have seen some very tough men with tears in their eyes the first time they saw these children. Yes, soldiers often end up being front line humanitarians, it just doesn't often make the news. We nicknamed the little girl "Joe Dirt".
