smokum Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 From the Czar....ROA/OCT06....I am trying hard to let these rest. Beautiful cigar..dark wrapper, perfect construction and the smell is intoxicating. Anyone care to comment on how these are smoking ?
shrink Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 » Anyone care to comment on how these are smoking ? I am going to go out on a limb, and state that these may have the greatest potential of any Cohiba I've ever smoked. They're much too young to show at their best, and a waste to smoke now, IMO. However, in several years, I expect them to attain legendary status.
Colt45 Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Smokum, here are some thoughts I posted in August. I would have just given the link, but the thread went slightly astray, as they sometimes do.......;-) Cohiba Pirámide EL ROA OCT 06 I don't know why I went for this one today, as I was not itchy to try one, but I did.... Construction, draw and burn were all exemplary. A glossy, deep brown, subtly mottled, wrapper. Taste-wise, I'll cut to the chase: For the first half, this one was deep, rich, pure unadulterated tobacco. Full bodied from start to finish, but just a notch or so under what I would consider strong. On the draw, not overtly youthful, but the finish was of green wood, though not quite bitter. At the halfway point, the above remained, but it became much more musty - think heavy wool socks you wore, got soaking wet, and left balled up in a corner for a few days. The finish smoothed out some in the second half. It was a very dense cigar, and I can't help but feel I've committed infanticide, as if I had drunk a first growth bordeaux immediately upon release. In my mind, I feel this is a real old time Havana, though I do not have that experience. I'm forgetting I have these. Impossible to score objectively at this time.
Mike33 Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 I had my third one about two weeks ago and was simply amazed at how damn good it was. That box I smoked from also has the same box code. One of my top 5 cigars.....all three have been excellent. Having said that, I won't have another for a year or two.....no doubt they will continue to get even better w/ a little age on them!
habanohal Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Ive smoked 3 boxes so far. Not a bad one out of the 30 of them. Very flavorful and far worth the money. Have 1 sigle to smoke and 2 more boxes that I am trying to let sit for a few decades :-D

BigSlick Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 One of the most complex cigars I have ever smoked. Resist for a month and then enjoy the ride. TD

I smoked a box when they came out, POS NOV or DIC 06 (can't remember which). They were nothing short of fantastic, with aging potential. I'm letting my boxes sit for a while for now. Are they still available?!

Agree with other's that they have great long term potential. I am going to save at least one box for several years!

Been awhile, but from memory a bit of oak and chocolate, mildly spicy in the beginning which builds slightly then fades away. Really good cigar, you'll enjoy them all now, might as well wait and see how they come along after smoking one tomorrow night!
El Presidente Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 This is one cigar which by 2012 will be regarded as one of the all time greats. I put it on a par with the Cohiba Double Corona Edicion Limitada. My list of guaranteed Future Legends is fairly limited. Cohiba Double Corona LE Cohiba Piramide LE (2006) Ramon Allones Estupendos
