BRISBANE, Australia - Australian doctors said they plugged a poisoned Italian tourist into a vodka drip after running out of the medicinal alcohol they would normally have used to save his life.

Is there such a thing as "pure alcohol"? No water what so ever?

Yep, I was using 100% (vol/vol) ethanol the other day at uni, though over time it would absorb some water from the air.

i remember when at uni, we tacked down some 'pure polish spirit'. shocker stuff. forget the actual level but it was 90% plus from memory. it was in half bottles and i remember that if we split it three ways into normal bottles then added water or whatever, we had the equivalent of three normal bottles of spirits.

the closest thing to 100% was something i drank in a village in the cameroons called hots. still have internal scars.

Normal distillation cannot produce anything stronger than 191 proof.
