Phailure Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Nice review! Never had an aged sample but I've enjoyed the young ones I've had.

Drives you nuts when you can't pinpoint a flavour In this case it drove you to drink....but a nice match in the Anejo Tequila ;-)
habanablue Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 1998 Bolivar Corona Gigante Haven't posted a review for some time, this one was a nice, mellow sunday afternoon cigar. No box code unfortunately as the Boli was gifted from a very reputable source though if that counts for anything. pre-light draw was a bit tight for my liking, however smell at cold was of a light herbal tea which suited the mood of the afternoon. Beverage of choice was water as I didn't want to miss any initial flavours that may have been drowned out by any other drink. Upon lighting, initial flavours of tea and straw were evident and this continued for the first third. The Boli really opened up after this, evolving to show hints of cedar and roasted nuts. I was trying desperately to pin the flavour, however this cedar/nut milieu was very very pleasing none the less. After much deliberation, I accompanied the cigar with a 1800 Anejo Tequila, whose floral tones complemented the boli quite nicely. The final third came on well with strong lashings of honey which paired with the roasted nuts scent very well. A nice cigar. It was never going to be a 'powerhouse' of flavour however the subtle flavours that came on in the second half played much better than the Aussies last night. 89
