broozer Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 » » BTW: no new books in 2008? » » I believe I saw a Cohiba "Sublimes Extra" listed for the book next year, » hence my comment about becoming a pauper. (Lisa, if you're listening » please put me on the list for the Cohiba book:-P ) yep, says it's coming out in june '08. bruce
GP012 Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Wow, it looks like HSA busted out MS Paint for some of those tubo photos, LOL. Rob, if you hear of HSA looking for a photographer, that's right up my alley!
Claudius Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 » Wow, it looks like HSA busted out MS Paint for some of those tubo photos, LOL. Must be an old version LOL So where did you see the reference to the Cohiba book, then? I must have missed that.
The Wise Old owl Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 » » » So where did you see the reference to the Cohiba book, then? I must have » missed that. Look at the last picture (list) Rob posted, it's listed under special series as "Coleccion Habanos", 20 Sublimes Extra... I guess probably a size very close to the "Behike". I want one.

broozer Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 rob, any idea why so many petite robustos? i've always thought this a strange size and haven't liked the few HDM's that i've smoked. it'd be nice to see the same amount of tobacco used in those to be a longer thinner cigar. bruce
El Presidente Posted October 9, 2007 Author Posted October 9, 2007 » rob, any idea why so many petite robustos? i've always thought this a » strange size and haven't liked the few HDM's that i've smoked. it'd be » nice to see the same amount of tobacco used in those to be a longer » thinner cigar. » » bruce Bruce. I have had a recent discussion with HSA on this and their thinking is fairly straight forward. The world through tighter smoking restrictions is looking for shorter cigars. They see it in their sales numbers where Robusto's, Petit Robusto's, Petit Corona's and Perla's are booming. The HDM Petit Robusto and Petit Edmundo have been sucesses in the market. They have room to flesh out this Petit Robusto vitola through Marque extensions. Having said that if trends change they will adjust.
Colt45 Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 » The world through tighter smoking restrictions is looking for shorter » cigars. A rash generalization and personal opinion : The gradual pussification of the world continues unchecked. Back to normal programming.
jsd Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 WOW! Some very interesting stuff that I would love to get my hands on.
El Presidente Posted October 10, 2007 Author Posted October 10, 2007 » A rash generalization and personal opinion : Colt. The exact point relating to the trend toward shorter thicker formats forms part of the Habanos s.a internal marketing document. They refer to sales figures but do not detail them otherwise I would have posted the numbers. I think that they are right. Consider ducking outside in the UK (due to legislation) for a cigar in Autumn or winter. Are you going to take a Ramon Allones Specially Select or a Gigantes? Where I think they are wrong is in the Petit Robusto format. Personally I think a whole series of Carlota formats in Bolivar/Por Larranaga/La Gloria Cubana/Sancho Panza/Diplomatico etc would be the way to go...but in boxes of 12 and "Coleccion Especial" cabs of 50. Needless to say they remain unconvinced in that they believe a Petit Robusto in say Bolivar would outsell a Bolivar Carlota 10:1.

Are you going to take a » Ramon Allones Specially Select or a Gigantes? » Rob, understood - my comment was rather off topic and based more on the human condition as I see it. And while I'm not trying to have a whinge or a GRA (Gargett Rugby Aneurysm), I am getting a bit tired of being told what not to eat, drink, smoke, taxed excessively, etc, etc, etc. Sorry for the brief threadjack.
