CIGARHead Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 I was graciously given this and other custom rolled cigars by Mel on his recent visit from Tennessee to Jacksonville. We met up at Aroma's Cigar Bar and had a great time smoking fine cigars and catching up. I was told by Mel to smoke the customs NOW, dont wait. So with a little arm twisting, I went out to the porch the other night with this Enrique Mons Piramide. It was very dark, oily and DANK. I wish words could describe the smell at cold. Fantastic. The cigar was rolled perfectly. Pre-light draw was perfect. Taste on the lips is oily and rich. 1st third – Slight spiciness and very rich. There is a predominant flavor that I just can’t place. I’ve never had this particular flavor in a cigar and am at a loss for what it reminds me of. Almost a thick, charred syrup. Very intense flavors. Did I say rich? 2nd third – The spiciness is now coming into the fore, but the cigar is building up some tar in the small opening I cut, so I clipped it some more. Wow, the flavors have intensified to cocoa and and that very clean tobacco taste. Still heavy with that charred syrup. Last third – This cigar has built in spiciness and strength. I was hungry before I smoked this cigar and now I am completely full. This Mons Piramide has burned straight and never required a touch up. I wish I had a bundle of the things cause theys great! I started smoking this sucker around 6pm and didnt get done till dark. You couldnt help but savor this gem. Thanks to you again Mel. You da man!
Colt45 Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Good stuff! Is that a pitcher of margaritas in the first pic? :-)
CIGARHead Posted October 1, 2007 Author Posted October 1, 2007 » Good stuff! » » Is that a pitcher of margaritas in the first pic? :-) No Mon, it's called Sin Ting. Dark Rum and a Jamaican drink called Ting. Slightly carbonated and made from fresh Jamaican grapefruits. You can order it online, or if theres a Caribbean market around town, they usually carry it. Damn goood.
n2advnture Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 I'm a fan of the "Monsdales", great review bro! ~Mark
Mel Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 » I'm a fan of the "Monsdales", great review bro! » » ~Mark I like the Monsdale also and smoked one Saturday night at the horse show. Glad you liked the Pirimide mate and remember "smoke em like was free". I have some DCs that will kill you on the last third. They are one of the few cigars that I say need time. I am not one of those guys always recomending that cigars age more but this monster is in time out. Hey Austin I am smoking that Bolivar Immensa AND the RA Small Club Corona that you gave me tonight.

Damn goood. OMG...I love Ting..it's my favorite soda in the world! Finally found a local Asian market who carries it (I was surprised, since it's a Jamaican soda)...and, it's still made with cane sugar rather than the dreaded (and not nearly as tasty) corn syrup.
