I've watched the first three episodes...it's OK, especially the way it can be interwoven with "Dr Who", but Captain Jack is a bit flat, I think..just my two cents, and I'll probably continue to watch it.

My current favorite BBC America show is "Top Gear"; amazing that Richard Hammond survived his terrible crash a year ago!

i quite enjoy dr who, especially the recent incarnations. suspect you have to see that to fully enjoy torchwood as that was where it all started, so you get the history of the thing. it was where capt jack first appeared.

torchwood is an anagram of doctor who.

all that said, i have not yet seen any of torchwood. it has finished its first season down here. did video some but yet to watch. it was on a different network here to dr who which was odd and it was a network not really suited. so went from prime time monday evening with enormous publiccity to post midnight midweek without a pipsqueak after just a few episodes.

i really couldn't give a toss about cars and if you asked me if i would ever watch a car show, i would have laughed but i really like this. they are so entertaining and do it all so well. a really good piece of tv.

I read an article that Torchwood was offered to the ABC first but didn't have the required funding and had nowhere to put it in an appropriate timeslot. It was then thrown open to the commercial channels and then sent to the midnight timeslot when it didn't live up to ratings expectations.

I have been a Doctor Who fan since I was a kid but couldn't really get into the Torchwood thing. I tried but it simply didn't strike a chord.
