a 94!!!!!

From the deep reddish brown color (they forgot the "u") to the perfect 3 seam cap, this cigar exhibits model construction. A Lush, full draw envelopes the palate with cocoa bean, sweet earth and pleasant floral notes that leave a long nutty finish

Box Date October 2006

What have the boys at Cigar Aficionado been smoking

That's it....I have panned this cigar fom pillar to post but I am going down right now and pulling one from the humidor to review. I know that I am an ignoramus to miss the great nuances of this cigar...at a 94 rating it must be one of the worlds greats ;-)

For F"""K sake they gave the HDM Petite Edmundo a 93!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"A perfectly capped short robusto with a great wrapper. The flavour profile is divese and sophisticated with meaty spicy flavours that take on a good shot of cocoa and leather. It gets better and better as its smoked"

Box date: February 2006

I will review this one as well today. Obviously they are scoring caps very highly at CA.

How much do caps contribute to the taste, expecially after you cut them!

Maybe they are smoking them with the caps on?

Suckling is a self-impressed blowhard. I smell his handiwork.

Their perfect cigar is 4x60. It is their quest to make all cigars this size popular and all smaller ring guage ones extinct.

I've really enjoyed the Monte Petite Edmundo, but I certainly would not rate it a 94. As for the HDM Petite Robusto? I've yet to find one that I thought was enjoyable enought to splurge on a box.

Considering most people think they are bought and paid by their advertisers that's not bad.

Haven't had either so what do I know?

Well, that triple cap helps with the "blind" tasting. Not to many NC's with a triple cap.

Suckling: "Ah, a triple cap! Let's start the ranking at 89 and go up from there."

RTDA feedback..I did not have one cigar that was under a 46 ring gauge. some were literally the size of sewer pipes. Only three manufacturers (can't remeber off the top of my head) had smaller cigars...

I do have Oct 06 boxes and have found them to be decent now with a ray of sunshine in their future! Not spectacular by any means.

Now you tell me.:-(

I've ordered a box of Padron Londres (sorry for the swear words) on their 86 rating.

Still at $2 a stick I guess I haven't done too badly.

At that price, I can use them as tinder for the barbie.:-D

Agreed. I have one box of PE and no PRs. Interesting for a change of pace but damned awkward to smoke. A loose draw on a short fat cigar is a terrible thing.
